Anyone else have a problem with a buzz on the driver's side door or dash that only occurs when the radio emits bass at a certain pitch level?
It seems to come from left of the air vent.
I'm loving the stereo system but this buzz comes in on the most powerful notes...
I've checked the bulletins and nothing seems to match.
Thanks for any ideas...
Try this:
Turn the stereo up on a track that buzzes. Then replay the buzzing track a couple times to confirm a repeatable buzz. Next turn the fader during the buzzing track front, then back to see if you can eliminate the buzz. Then if say it only buzzes with the fader set to front, repeat the procedure with the fader set front and change the balance right to left. You should be able to isolate a bad speaker or mount, most likely the front left from the sound of it. Now retest the the speaker isolated and the door opened vs. closed. If the buzz is present both times, you have more evidence of bad speaker OR mount. Now then CAREFULLY remove the doorpanel on the side that buzzes and with the panel removed retest your bass track. If the buzz is gone it's the door panel or a loose clip connecting it. If the buzz persists carefully unscrew the speaker and hold it. If the buzz is present you have a bad speaker, if not put the speaker back in and push at various spots around the speaker to attempt to dampen the noise. If the buzz persists it may be the mounting.
Find the culprit and if you need help fixing it post the problem and I'll try to help if I can.

Thanks; since my original post, the buzz has been narrowed down to the upper front driver's door, somewhere inside. Apparently a few others have this problem too...see this thread:

Noone has solved it yet, probably because we're afraid to take a door panel off of our new cars...!
PBMW - How do you have so much knowledge about these things? Your posts are extremely detailed and thorough...almost like you do this for a living...?
Thank you Pairallel!
I'm an all around car nut and have a lot of general experience, but in particular I'm a detailer and used to be a car stereo installer. If I had it to do all over again, I would probably be a automotive designer or engineer. :D
Thanks again!
