princess-any idea if they've increased this tsb to include the 04's?? every once in awhile when i brake they shudder. it's not all of the time. it feels similar to the abs kicking in, but not anywhere near as harsh.

mine started doing this too. When I stop from a slower speed, sounds like that my brakes are grinding. So this is covered under warranty?

I've noticed that the rotors are very quick to rust - they'll start to turn rusty red in the middle of a car wash. I know that's a different issue, but after ANY type of moisture, my brakes will make a horrid grinding sound and feel for the first few minutes of driving until the oxidation is scraped off.

Is the sound coming when you're lightly touching the brake? Or/and on a downhill?
If so, it still sounds like rotors..... if it were my car I'd go ahead & have them checked. Just because it's not listed, doesn't mean it's not there! Call your dealer & ask if they'll check it for free, being under warranty.
I also have a VERY quick rust development! I get griped at if I don't drive before moving it into the garage for drying! So I simply backup farther or turn around using the street.... it has helped at bunch!

I'll hose off the car, and in the time it takes to put that away and get the chamois, it's corrosion city.
Oh well, they're not shuddering yet...but the way my other drives, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

I guess your humidity there make a difference! Here, it will be more likely to happen during drying time.

yeah i don't think any amount of drying after washing would help around here.. what with all the rain and stuff allt he time it's virtualy impossible to keep them from getting wet and staying wet for too long!!! :lmao:

I took mine in at 10200 for brake judder. Altho the car was not on the VIN list of affected cars, the dealer had the pads replaced and rotors turned. A new service writer was standing watching the write up and asked how it was known the car had the problem when it wasn't on the list. My service writer replied "Because the owner is experiencing the problem". Nice to see common sense still has a place in customer service. I now have 17400 on the car and no reoccurence of the brake judder. The dealer told me the new pads may not permanently fix the problem. I now commute 90 miles round trip and have some pretty steep hills to slow down on. Getting more use of the brakes than the first 15K. Hoping for the best. The common suense dealer is unfortunately too far away to be convenient and and local shop here in West Virginia told me the equivalent of service for a foriegn car is like buying it in Egypt.

 for finding one with common sense!

yesterday i had the judder pretty bad. i was heading up a ramp and came to a stop (not a sudden one. i had been doing about 45 and had more than enough time to come to a safe stop...) but as soon as i applied the brakes, there it was. i guess i have to get mine looked into sometime soon.
i hope the dealership is nice to me too! my vin isn't listed currently! :sorry:

Had a post a while back talking about a brake sound especially after I washed the car. Apparently that sound was common and not a problem since the rotors seem to rust pretty fast when washed.
I was coming back from Park city the other day on I-80. For people from Utah they probably know the road I'm talking about, 70+mph, mild turns, and some steep (not too steep) inclines. Anyway, coming back I was a bit over the speed limit :paranoid: and decided to slow down. I felt a fine judder/shudder/vibration (mainly vibration, some noise too) especially downhill at 70+mph. Was able to reproduce it several times. Never happens with city driving, tried, nothing at around 40 mph even downhill. Tried on level highway, slowing from 70mph down a very mild offramp, nothing there too.
Does any of this sound like the problem outlined in this bulliten? I know it refers to the 03's do you think they fixed it in the 05's, any bullitens you know about Princess  ?
Should I take it into the dealer or leave it till the next service (I'm at about 7000, taking it in at 10,000 should be a few more months)?
Thanks
