My Accord is finally in the body shop for the hail damage after a 4 month wait. Went to Enterprise for a rental car.. Got a great rate on a intermediate size car, $107 for a full week, unlimited mileage. I got a brand new PT Cruiser 2007 model. In the first 2 days the alternator light kept coming on after driving for 15 minutes or so. The belt or something had to be too tight, as the car moaned like a heifer in heat.

When i returned it this morning, they looked at me like I was smoking crack. :beatnik: They could not believe a car with 1000 miles had a problem. Hey its a Chrysler. So they swapped it for a Cobalt LS POS. At 13,000 miles it was shot. Didn't even have matching tires, 1 Bridgestone, 2 conti's, 1 Goodyear.
Going down the road it went thump, thump, thump. It was not flatspotting, as it never went away. My guess was the it was a CV joint failing as the whole car shook at speeds as low as 30 MPH.

So trip 2 to Enterprise. I ended up with a free upgrade to a Taurus. AT least it had no obvious problems and drives nicely. Trust me this is my last Enterprise rental, as I am posiive that the Cobalt was a known POS and was dumped on me. A letter to Enterprie corporate is in order.

I want my Accord back.

Never had any serious problems with any car I rented from Enterprise in several parts of the US.

Only problem I had once was the CEL on a ford taurus. The car barely had 12k miles.

With the volvo I rented last year I busted a tire, paid $50 for a new one, of which $30 was given back to me by the rental agency.

My wife rented a car at Enterprise about a year ago. When she got it home she noticed the tags had ran out three weeks earlier! She took it back and they put new tags on it.

Ive rented with enterprise before.

The cars ive gotten where,

1. 2003 Toyota Corolla
2. 2005 Hyundia Elentra
3. 2005 Chevy Trail blazer
4. 2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Not a problem on any car, other than the insult of givign me a baby blue hyundai elentra. LOL

And i beat the crap out of that elentra. I took it a little offroading.

****and some of you wonder why rentals are broken.....

I've had several Enterprise rentals they've all been very nice considering they were GM vehicles.

I had a Buick Lucerne that really wasn't that bad of a car.

I'm always glad to get back into my own vehicle after some time in a rental. They generally get the job done but never feel quite right. The worst ever was a Malibu, maybe two years ago. I swear it had sponges where the brake pads were supposed to be.

I'm always glad to get back into my Honda no matter what car I've been driving previously...even our ML320 and Camry don't make me feel particularly good about driving.

We haven't noticed much difference between rental company brands, we have noticed a difference in car brands.... the Fords have always felt like they needed the whole under carriage tightened. They shake you to death on the freeway & float so bad it's hard to hang on!!

Our best was a little Forrester. Our worst was a Jeep. The closest to the way my feels was a V6 Sonata. Less pep, but at least could get out of it's own way & wasn't noisey or shakey. :)

I rented an Expedition. Drove it from las vegas to flagstaff to moab to denver with no problems and it had around 44K miles. It was a 4x4 so we went off roading in the desert. got our moneys worth lol

Wow, that's a lot of miles for a rental. I rented a Malibu Maxx in FL in June and it was...adequate. Just kind of 'there.' Not nearly as much power as I thought it would have, and a lot of engine thrashing when I had to get on it. Don't know why anyone would buy one new, esp. considering how much it would depreciate in the first ten minutes!
