I only managed to get 96,000 miles out of my Kumho Ecsta HP4's but I'm willing to give them another chance with a new set. <g> I did get 81k from the OEM Michelins.

The Tire Rack doesn't list the HP4 model any longer but lists three versions of the new "Solus" model. Does anyone have any experience with the Solus line?

seems to be your standard regular tire. nothing special about it. would do the job just fine if all you are looking for is rubber to roll on.

I should have included whether the tire is compatible in snow with the Ecsta HP4. I drive a lot in PA & NY in the winter months. The HP4's never let me down in the white stuff.

..realizing it's cool to be continually unimpressed with 'no big thing' inherent within one's perceptual style..............

I'm impressed as hell with your ability to log 81k on your OEM Mich tars.....

..BZ....as we would appropriately signal you in Navyspeak....

..ez..

hmm might want too look at a better all season tire then. but then again the michelins served you well in snow... :paranoid: :dunno:

I was impressed with getting over 80k on the OEM Michelins and blown away by getting past 90k on these $50 Kumho's!

I mean to say if the new Solus was comparable with the HP4 in snow. The HP4's did a great job getting me through so pretty tough snowy drives in NY and PA. Equal or better than the much more expensive Michelins.

It doesn't appear anyone has used this new line from Kumho. I'll call the Tire Rack and get there thoughts, it is usually spot-on. I thinking about ordering a set of tires to their Delaware location and get them mounted there - no sales tax! I'm on I-95 in DE a lot so getting there isn't a problem. I see now the Tire Rack offers a "Road Hazard" plan.

I had Sears mount the current set of Kumho's, they matched the Tire Rack price. I had one tire replaced because of road damage (ran over a filing cabinet on the PA turnpike) and had two flats repaired.

So you have 170,000+ miles on your 03 Accord and changed the tires once? Or is this between the 2 cars? I'm sorry if I seem a bit skeptical, I find it extremely difficult to believe you get 90K miles from a set of tires. I would love to know what your secret is....

It's not unusual...I saw an Ody go 100K+ on a set of Michelin's, our Camry did 60K and my dad is a moderately aggressive driver. All highway I wouldn't doubt 90K, but not on my car :lmao:

Yep. 99.9% highway miles.
Installed the first set at:
New Tires - Kuhmo ECSTA HP4, 716 205-60-16 80,853 6-Dec-04

Car is now at 174,547 miles. I was amazed, particuarly given the low cost of the Kumho's. I keep the PSA @ 38 lbs. A 2 lb PSI difference usually costs me a few MPG. Rotate the tires every 10k at every other oil change.

Drove 1,200 miles in the last two days, 35.5 and 35.9 mpg for the last two tanks. I just set the cruise at 72-73 mph, drive several hundred miles and turn her off! I changed the front pads at 97k and rears at 100k. Those pads still look close to 1/2" thick.

My aunt has a 99 Forrester S-- With the nicer 16" rims on it,

She just got 125k on her stock Continentals,(conti-touring contacts) most forresters have yokohama geolanders stock-- but, when she picked hers up brand new it had the continentals.

She drives about 70 miles a day hwy, she also got 110k on stock brake pads and rotors..

She just replaced her conti's with some Kumho ecsta's.... She says they are great riding so far..

Her conti's also had 2/32 of tread left, the guys in my service dept. at work says that they see some camrys come in wich michelins with 80k+ alot too, for you hwy drivers..

That's real impressive for an AWD vehicle.

I ordered the Kumho Solus HP4 into my local Sears. $59/tire which was less than the Tire Rack price (plus shipping).
The clear coat peeled off my rims in the first 1.5 yrs (the only disappointing thing about the car). I'm watching a set of V-6 rims on Ebay but probably won't dump any more money into this car.
