View Full Version : Stil haven't received my '07 Accord that I bought on 9/21
jsfofec 09-30-2006, 01:55 PM I bought a cool blue metallic '07 Accord EX-L v6 with Navi on 9/21, but I still don't have my car! I had them add a couple of extras, including EP-R5 wheels, fog lights and the day-night mirror, along with a few other accessories. Somewhere between the sales person, finance person and the service dept., they dropped the ball.
They said they had to order the accessories on Friday (9/22), but the car should be ready by Monday 9/25...Monday came around, car's not ready. Received a call on Tuesday (9/26) saying everything is being put on and the car would be ready Wednesday (9/27)..I called on Wednesday and they said they had trouble finding the wheels, but were located in LA (I'm in northern CA)...it takes 5 business days to locate the wheels??? I know they are lying!
Then they said the car would be ready on Friday(9/29)...Friday came around...no car. Then they said it would be Saturday (today, 9/30). So I get a call this morning and it's the service dept confirming an appt for Monday(10/2) to bring my new car in to have the accessories added...the same ones that should have already been added, they claimed it was the wheels that were delayed! I told them I have never picked up the car, that they have it! They say "oh" and transfered me to my sales person, who tells me that she's been working with them all morning to be sure the accessories get added today and doesn't understand why they called me to bring the car in.
I know I've been lied to because it doesn't take 5 days to locate the wheels. I could have done that myself and ordered by now. This is so frustrating, I don't know what to do. What's worse, a good friend of ours is the customer service manager there.
What's really funny, I have already received my license plates from the DMV! How many people do you know that get their plates before they get the car.
I've always bought Hondas and from that dealership, but have never experienced anything like this before. Anybody have any suggestions???
joerockt 09-30-2006, 01:57 PM Ummm, if your friend works there, why not ask him/her what the real story is?
Oh, and make sure you get your orginal wheels that came with the car. Dont let the dealer keep them. You can get a couple hundred bucks just selling them.
greg-ster 09-30-2006, 02:00 PM Strange indeed...
The Accords aren't exactly flying off the lots, so being unable to find a car is pretty lame.
If you haven't paid, maybe you should go somewhere else with your business :dunno:

They have the car, it's the accessorries they are claiming is the problem. I actually already did pay them a $15,000 deposit and financed the rest. My check cleared last Monday.
My friend that works there told us on Wednesday that the Finance, Sales and Services depts have been "lectured to" about this because when they did the "due Bill" for the accessories, nobody followed up on it, neither the sales or service areas...so the car just sat there for days...and of course with me, they thought they could lie to me and get away with it.

Good point...of course they are going to tell me that it's procedure to keep them or something. Since they are keeping the car for 1/2 month, I should tell them they have to make my first payment!
saxdogg 09-30-2006, 02:09 PM go in and lay the smack down, friend working there or not...that's crap
stevencrosbie 09-30-2006, 02:10 PM you haven't taken delivery yet then right? Hmm..maybe you can demand a few more accessories.....
Maybe they can install the Ipod adaptor or pay for XM for the first year.
You still have the power since you haven't signed the delivery paperwork.

Yea, and then you tell them to eat a big fat dic* :D. You bought the car with the orginal wheels included and you paid extra for other wheels.

LOL, yea im sure those accessories will get installed RIGHT AWAY! :lmao:
Conundrum 09-30-2006, 03:55 PM I know when I bought my car I added the HFP suspension, and told them I wanted the original suspension in the trunk when I took ownership of the car on delivery. When I went to pick up the car, that hadn't been done, but while I was out test driving my new car (refused to sign until I actually drove it in case of any weird noises, rattles, etc) they had the original suspension ready and put it in the trunk when I got back to the dealership.
In my case, will I ever sell/use the original suspension...probably not...but all I do know is I payed both for my car's original suspension in the base price AND the HFP suspension as an option, therefore I am entitled to both. Your wheels should be the same way.
As for the delays, I feel your pain as well...I was originally told 3 weeks (factory order), which then turned into "we don't know", which 2 weeks later became "middle of march", which then became a specific date in march (on which my sales rep was unavailable via phone and I was unable to get my car, which finally turned into getting my car about a week or two later.
dragoncoach 09-30-2006, 04:00 PM Which dealership did you buy it from? You should have taken delivery with the OEM wheels and just brought it back for the new ones. At least you could have been driving your new car!
bmcdaniels 09-30-2006, 05:25 PM I've never had the lack of in-stock accessories keep me from taking possession of a new vehicle. The dealer should give you a "we owe" voucher for what's missing, and then you simply schedule an install appointment when the parts come in.
ypsibird 09-30-2006, 06:23 PM No offense intended, but you paid them $15,000 and didn't take possession of the car? That is probably not necessary as a deposit. I've ordered a # of cars and don't recall ever giving the dealer more than $100. I ordered 1 car to be built to my order and paid the dealer $0. It makes them a lot more eager to complete the deal to your satisfaction. I've had dealers ask me to complete all the paperwork, pay the $, etc upon arrival to pick up my new car. I defer until I inspect the car and it is to my satisfacation. I had at least 1 car that had some minor isues that I insisted be listed on the paperwork to insure that they were corrected. I stop short of driving it prior to delivery, though I've heard of people insisting upon doing so. Really like the cool blue. Wish I could have gotten that color! I'm sure you' ll really enjoy your car when you finally take it home.

I was suppose to have the car within a couple of days, it was just the part of the financing. There wasn't suppose to be this delay. I could have taken the car that day, but then have to bring it back to get the stuff put on. I was ok about waiting a couple of days to get it done. Little did I know it would be heading into the 2nd week. It would have been done in a day or two, but person A didn't talk to person C and person B didn't make sure that A & C were talking...

dragoncoach 09-30-2006, 07:50 PM Most dealers issue a due bill which states what additional work is to be performed on the car to satisfy the contract. I can see your fustration, but after a couple of days, they should have at least given you a loaner.
ypsibird 10-01-2006, 06:26 AM I could have taken the car that day, but then have to bring it back to get the stuff put on.
Ok, that makes a lot more sense to me now. I guess I didn't quite understand.
Hopefully, you'll get it in a couple of days at most.
Barry45RPM 10-01-2006, 09:03 AM You've got to get someone in Management's ear. Not in Sales. Not on the showroom floor. You have to bypass all of the front end. Go over to the dealership Monday thru Thursday 9 A.M.- 3 P.M. & find the business office, walk in & politely explain your situation. The people out front keep dropping the ball. It happens in all businesses from time to time... something becomes "the order from Hell" where nothing goes right.
When you go into the office ask for the person's name, be business-like & they will walk you around from salesman to finance guy to service department, inferring to each of the to get their sh1t together, follow up, & get it done. I bet they get you done & delivered right away, or overnight.
psycho- 10-01-2006, 11:27 PM Wow. I gotta say. I didn't pay for my car's down or started my loan until I actually had the car waiting to be delivered. A small problem, they put it on a "due bill" instead.
I really gotta ask, what drove you to do what you did? I guess I just care too much about my money when I spend it.
bagbklyn 10-02-2006, 06:12 AM Whatever happens you should be compensated in some form. I don't know if you are or did but are you renting a vehicle or loaning a vehicle? Did they ever give you the option of after the numerous delays picking up the car at least? I would ask for some type of compensation for you troubles such as free oil changes or something along those lines.
jsfofec 10-02-2006, 07:28 PM Well, I finally picked up the car today. The GM had to get involved because it was such a mess. After it was all over, they still messed up. First there were 2 big scratches by the ignition, which I showed them and they say th will fix it...I'm sure I'll scratch it eventually, but I want it new without scratches. The 2nd thing they messed up...they forgot to install lojack! When I was picking it up, specifically asked them if lojack was installed, and they said, "yes, of course". I knew something was wrong because when they gave me the keys, it' didn't have the lojack sensor tag with it.
They also left the sticker on the auto day-night mirror that says "don't remove until it's been programmed." I don't know if they programmed it or not. They also didn't fill the car up with gas. They gave me a voucher to bring to the gas station myself. They also lost the valet key! So I have to bring it back so they can give me a new key
This is unbelievable!
joerockt 10-03-2006, 03:26 PM Wow, thats just horrible. Just another reason to never buy aftermarket add-on's from the dealer at time of purchase.
dragoncoach 10-03-2006, 04:51 PM Be sure they program the key into the system. Otherwise, you'll have a key to lock and unlock but not start the car.
jsfofec 10-04-2006, 04:33 AM I'm bringing back in Friday to get all the keys reprogrammed, to be sure the mirror is calibrated and get lojack installed. They still haven't been able to explain to me how they forgot to install lojack.
I'm going to detail the car this weekend, so I'll post some pics afterwords
pl8ster 10-04-2006, 04:19 PM Should be fun to fill out the survey they send you!
stevencrosbie 10-04-2006, 04:51 PM I'd make sure to let them know you're going to blast them out of the water...
You could still get some free stuff out of it....or just blast them....maybe that will fix the dealership.
greg-ster 10-04-2006, 05:22 PM If they haven't installed lojack, then you still have time to get your money back on it...
It might be a good thing on their part for forgetting to install it.

I just got a call today from Honda about my purchase experience. Everything is rated from 1-5, with 5 being the best. Every question they asked I was answering either 1 or 2...after the 1st question, they asked, what happened, so I went through the whole story. Then every question after that it was, "so is this the same reason as the other questions" it was pretty funny.
Boogie 10-09-2006, 04:36 PM man that sucks... having a brand new car and not being able to drive it... with my patience i'd be on killing spree by now
hope they gonna give you some extras for that kind of a screw-up
