For the past two winters, passengers in the back seat of my car have complained about being cold, even thought it was pretty warm up front. Being that it's a nice sunday afternoon, I decided to dismantle my car and poke around.
First, I popped out the "not an ashtray", and removed the two screws underneath it. It didn't want to come out without removing the escutcheon around the shifter, so I carefully popped that out too.
Next, I unscrewed the two screws holding in the center storage bin. You must keep the door closed and push the bottom of the door all the way in, in order to remove the storage bin.
Now that you have a nice pit in your dashboard, you'll look in and see something very interesting: there are two tubes which will be totally seperated from the attachment point. In my case, not only were they disconnected, but they were misaligned and it looks like they were just jammed in place without any care. It'll take some muscle, but move the tubes back onto the attachment points.
Turn the key to II, and try running the blowers on floor vent. Voila! Your rear vents will keep your passengers from freezing in the winter.

You can't really tell how tilted foward this duct is from the pic, but a general idea

Does anyone know what the small, silver, square 6x6in box with a few yellow wiring harnesses going into it is?
Yep, they threw a keg party as my car rolled down the assembly line :thumbsdow
