Credit for the gruntwork goes to AngryDad and Kennyc on AcuraZine (http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144925)

I just tried this out on my version 3.40C equipped Accord, and it works like a charm.

I just took Kennyc's trimmed Navi.exe patch for version 3.40 and applied it to our Bin file (BN2HH120.Bin).

What I'm posting is pretty much ready to use - you just have to burn it to a CD and force load it into your navi. There are 2 files: BN2HH120.bin, and a second file BN2HHMLD.bin. Burn both, and enjoy :)

File 1 - (13MB) (http://www.savefile.com/files/131392)

File 2 (tiny) (http://www.savefile.com/files/131395)

I should mention: this is a virgin bin file, if you have any previous mods, like the startup screen, they will be erased if you use this.

If you want to keep your previous navi mods, you'll have to patch your previously modified bin file...

This is for 03-05 Accords with the Orange Navigation DVD only, at least for now

I did this in the TL and it works great. I also have the custom background and trip computer. I love this NAVI system.

greg-ster, does this include the trip computer patch or is it seperate?

Im burning the files now and bringing them down to the car to load up!

This is for the Accord, there isn't a trip computer needed...it's just the OK button.

Wait, I think that you're trying to install this on the TSX - that won't work, since the TSX uses a different bin file

The original files are floating around Acurazine. You should be easily able to patch the BIN for the TSX. Just use kennyc's instructions in the sticky

Good luck

Anyone know if there are patched bin's for the newer Accord navis?

My 06 AV6 has version 4.31c DVD (white disc), I still gave these bins a try, but not too surprisingly they didn't work (since I guess they were taken from a 3.4/3.5 DVD)

Thanks for any help!

Angrydad said that, for the forseeable future, his hacks will only work on orange disc nav systems since he doesn't have access to any other ones...

But someone else could get clever and figure out how to apply this to the white nav discs :)

any possibility that I could get some step by step instructions? I don't know what you mean by force-load and I couldn't find it in that other thread. I am pretty good with computers but have absolutely no idea how the nav functions and did not want to screw around with it and mess the system up somehow. I am assuming that it just reads off of the DVD completely and there is no hard-drive on-board, right? Maybe a mod could make it a sticky or put it in the faq? Anyway, thanks for the update.

This patch is only availiable for '03-05 Accords with the orange DVD right now...Hopefully someone can figure out how to do this to the white DVD in the future.

By force load, I mean going into the service menu (press Map + Menu + Cancel), pressing 'Version' and then 'Disc Load'.

The Nav unit is extremely forgiving of screwups, so to fix any, just force it to re-load the original DVD.

In other news, it looks like AngryDad got banned from Acurazine...

I can't say that i'm "supportive" of the banning, but I didn't really like the attitude AngryDad had about the whole thing.

According to the many programmer types on AZ, AngryDad's code for the patch was really well and cleverly written - it may take a while for anyone else to make any new headway with our nav systems. :(

They managed to piss off the only guy who was able to successfully hack the OK button because they were greedy. Good job Acurazine!!

He was banned because he wanted to charge people $50 to remove his AD tag from the hack. While I could care less about the AD tag, I dont think it was right to charge people that amount, espically when he was getting all sorts of donations. He could have easily made a tag free one and would have continued to receive donations.

So IMO, HE was the one that got greedy, not the folks at Azine...

touch of grey
10-06-2006, 06:56 PM
He charged $50 to weed out people because as he said, he had to do it individually and didn't have time to do it for every person that wanted it. I can't blame him, it was/is very time consuming. If the AD in the corner for 3-5 seconds is that big a deal, pay the $50, otherwise, get over it. Do you really spend the whole time watching the screen as it boots? I think not....Now, if he was charging for it and added that, I could see people complaining, but he did it for FREE!! He didn't ask for donations, they were offered. It's amazing what people expect for nothing. This guy does what no one else could do for FREE, and people whine and complain because his initials are in the corner for a few seconds????? Thats pretty audacious!

I am currently enjoying the patch. So what, I donated to him and I have an "AD" in the corner....

My custom splash screen is fun to look at and I miss the disclaimer screen most of the time b/c I know I don't have to press ok. This is a great mod for NAVI.

As for his leaving.....um..I'm indifferent. Both parties got greedy. At least he has a personal webpage where he will release more of his "hacks" for the navi system.

Can someone help me out?

I did as required. I burned the 2 files onto a CD. Loaded the disc in the version screen, waited till it was finished, then took it out and put my stock DVD back in.

I still have the OK screen and button and I am still required to push it.

Wasn't this hack suppose to get rid of that screen? Did I do something wrong?

stevencrosbie
10-31-2006, 03:49 PM
You need to go back and re-read the instructions. I did this for the TL and it works. You have to burn all 9 bin files to the CD. Then put it in the DVD drive, and load the software from the diagnostics menu.

There is a master thread on Acurazine that outlines everything step by step, but you can just download those files and burn them to a CD. Please go back and re-read all of the instructions as that is what I did. I am no expert.

If you have specific questions, I might be able to help you out.

My DVD only had 8 BIN files on it. I copied those onto my HD. Do the files I downloaded replace the files of the same name I copied from the NAVI DVD?

greg-ster
10-31-2006, 04:55 PM
You should put your car info into your signature - do you have an 06-07 accord?

If you have an orange DVD, then the navi shouldn't have a problem with the hack... :dunno:

Sorry, it's an 03 Accord EX V6 with NAVI!

greg-ster
10-31-2006, 05:02 PM
That's interesting...

What version is your navi DVD? The ready-made BIN files that I've posted are from the 3.40 disc - i'm not sure why it wouldn't work at all in your car.

After you force-loaded the CD with the two BIN files, did you see the "invalid disc" error message?

prkiller
10-31-2006, 10:15 PM
Not sure what version it is. I will need to pull it out and take a look.

I did indeed get the "invalid disc" and everything went as it should, it just did not bypass the OK screen.

I did notice that is changed the size and color slighty of the font on the "OK" screen and it also changed the "GPS" box on the top of the screen from being on the right hand side to being on the left!

Really wierd!

prkiller
10-31-2006, 10:17 PM
BTW, does anyone know if a copied disc will work in the player? If I have an older version, my friend has an 04 TSX and can probably give me a copy...

If I buy the new version from the honda/alpine site (V 3.6), it still will not work because this hack does not work for the newest version correct?

greg-ster
11-01-2006, 04:23 AM
I guess that the issue could be that you have an older version of the software.

You could try manually patching your BIN file using the Navi.exe availiable on AZ, using the instructions availiable there as well

And copied DVD's won't work in the nav unit - lots of people have tried and noone has gotten it to work

Good luck!

Hi there!

New here, obviously... I found your site when I was searching the internet for Navi hacks. My baby (link to pics found at bottom of this post as well as dyno results!) is a 2006 EX-L V6 6 speed w/navi. It's obvious these settings are hidden in the .BIN files. Has anyone tried simply extracting these .BIN files on our new "white" disc to see what's inside? I'd really like to figure out how to customize this series as people have done with the older versions. :D

Sincerely,

Bo Holt

... as a follow up, I did some experimentation with a hack for the 06 Civic. I found that information on http://guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/

It turns out that the .BIN file that had my splash screen was 05Touch2.bin. I was able to extract the splash, update the .BIN file, but when I burned onto a CD-ROM it could not download. Instead, it gave me a disc error. I tried burning to a DVD but still had no positive results. It may be because there has to be a different combo of .BIN files to put back on the new disc. I guess I'm just going to have to get a dual layer DVD, burn the ENTIRE disc over again with the modded .BIN file, and see if that works.

It figures... there are successful hacks all over the internet for other Hondas and other navis.... but not our Accords! :dunno:

greg-ster
11-01-2006, 12:24 PM
Yeah, it won't voluntarily load from a CD - you should force-load the CD from the service menu, then re-insert your original DVD.

bholt
11-01-2006, 01:10 PM
I'm pretty sure that I did... That's when I went to the main screen, held the three buttons down, selected version, and then selected download.... Am I overlooking something obvious?

I can suggest lots of trial and error, because in the end you usually figure out what went wrong in the first place

Thanks,

Another thread that is not mine, but I will copy the information to you so you can play with this. Thanks to Kennyc and many people at Acurazine, this thread is brought to you by them

There are a lot of reading one got to go through to find the answer on how to hack the navi. I want to combine all the thread and condense it so one can find how to do it by reading this thread. This guide is mainly written for people with the 3.40c and 3.50 orange navigation disks who also are familiar with a computer. If you don't know what a command prompt is please do not try to do the following yourself. Talk to your kids or your neighbor's kids and see if they can help you!

Oh, and I am not responsible if your car explodes b/c of this mod. It works for me and now I have the trip computer and the hacked ok button. I know this works, but for the Accord, you guys might have to do some research for me as I don't have an Accord to check myself.

Tools that you may need
DumpNavi (http://www.linuxkiddies.com/projects/navi/) DumpNAVI by bysin, it extracts and replaces files within BIN file.
Improved DumpNavi (http://guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/Bysin.zip) Works with 4.xx NAVI software.
CEBin (http://home.earthlink.net/~akonshin/files/cebin.zip) CEBin, more feature and less limitation, but harder to use.
Navi-GUI (http://philipedge.com/Acura%5FTL/navi-gui.zip) GUI front end for the DumpNAVI program.
TLPatch401a.com (http://vistabug.com/pub/TLPatch401a.com)
NaviOK401a.com (http://www.vistabug.com/navi/NaviOK401a.com) AD's OK button patch for Navi 3.50
navi.zip (http://www.savefile.com/files/127152) - Kenny's modified OK executable for Navi 3.40c (password: kennyc)

How do I change my wallpaper??

Things that you need
Your favorite photo editing software - I like photoshop
DumpNAVI program
A picture you like
Your navigation DVD.

Instruction
1. Create your wallpaper. Not artistic? Too lazy? Try here (http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1370271)
2. Resize/crop the wallpaper down to 380x234 with 256 colors
3. Resize the wallpaper to 480x234 so it will "stretch" the wallpaper horizontally.
4. Save it as "Back.bmp" - make sure your photo editing software converts the picture from RGB to Indexed (img->mode->indexed color in photoshop) and enter 173 in the colors field. Also make sure it is saved as 8-bit bitmap. So your wallpaper will be the same size as the original. (113,068 bytes, 114688 bytes on disk) Make sure your wallpaper is the same size or smaller than those numbers, or else it will not work!
5. Copy 2 files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)

BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN

6. Copy DumpNAVI.exe, your wallpaper, and BNHH401A.BIN into the same folder.
7. Go to a command prompt by start-> run, and type in "cmd" and press enter.
8. Say I put all three files in the "navi" folder on the c drive, I will type "c:" (without the prompt) and press enter. Then type in "cd navi" and press enter.
9. Now you should see "C:\NAVI>" Now type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update Back.bmp" and press enter. The pc will prompt you when it's done.
10. The new wallpaper is now in the bin file.

If wallpaper is all you want find the section named "How to load my custom bin back into the car?"

How do I load AngryDad's OK button crack??

Things that you need
Your navigation DVD
DumpNavi Program
AD's OK button patch (for v3.50)
or
Kennyc's modified OK button executable (for v3.40c)

Instruction
For version 3.50:
1. Download AngryDad's OK button patch.
2. Copy two files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)

BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN

and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and the ok patch.
3. Go to a command prompt and change into that directory.
4. Type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN extract" This will extract everything within that BIN file into a folder named BNHH401A
5. Find a file named navi.exe in that folder and copy it out to the same folder as AD's OK patch.
6. Run the patch.
7. After patching, type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update navi.exe" This will load your patched navi.exe into the bin.

For version 3.40c:
As with the trip computer, I trimmed the navi.exe for v3.50 so it will fit in the v3.40c's bin.
1. Download my ok button excutable from the link above
2. Extract the navi.exe into the same directory as your dumpnavi program (password: kennyc)
3. Copy two files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)

BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN

and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and navi.exe.
4. Type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update navi.exe" This will load the modified v3.50 navi.exe into v3.40c Bin.

How to load my custom bin back into the car?
1. Burn your custom bin (BNHH401a.BIN) and the loader (BN2HHMLD.BIN) onto a blank CD.
2. Go to your car.
3. Turn your car's ignition to ACC
4. Open the trunk and pop out the NAVI disk (if it's in there)
5. Insert your newly burned CD.
6. Go back to the driver seat, the display will show some dvd read error, now press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
7. Wait another 5 seconds to let it load up completely. Press "version" button on the screen
8. Press "LOAD DISC" to load your custom bin into the navigation.
9. Wait until it's completely done and it will then display another error message about can't read the navi dvd, now take out your bin CD and insert your Navigation disc and you are done!

Troubleshooting and Tips
I found the navigation system is pretty tolerant of mistakes. If you screw something up (and you probably will) All you need to do is reinsert your original navi dvd back into the drive, press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for 5 seconds and it will take you to the diagnostic menu EVEN if your navigation system is in a loop! Once you're in the diagnostic menu just go into "version" and press "load disc" and everything will be back to factory state.

One last tip,

Make sure you keep a backup copy of your custom bin file. That file contains your wall paper, trip computer and the ok button mod. If you lose it you would need to redo everything again.

Yeah, I think the problem is our white Accord CD has different .BIN file names. Until we locate which is which, I don't think we're going to have as much luck. As soon as I get around getting a blank dual layer DVD I'll burn what I *think* may be the key and give it a shot! :D

Oh my bad, the White DVD disk for the 06 models is completly different. It's the new updated system. The 07 TL just got that system, so it might be a while before you see any new files and DIY for this project.

This should work for the 03-05 models though.

For those who were having disk errors...

Make sure that you 'close the session' when burning the CDROM or DVD. Some burners allow you to leave the CD open so that you can come back later and write more files to the disc. From my experience last year when playing with the custom screens, my CD only worked when I closed the session on the CDR.

1. Yeah, that's cool. Thanks for going to all that trouble to research and post all that. What are the main differences on the new white disc as opposed to the previous orange one?

2. I'm pretty sure I did close that session. I remember thinking that it would be best to close it!
