Got a 2000 honda accord LX 4D and SRS light came on. Check it with my OBD ll scanner and gave a code P1486 and says it was an auxillary emissions control. Princess, in your problem codes base on P1486, you said it was about the cooling system malfunction. I can easily rerase it by using my scanner tool but want to wait what the honda guys will tell me when they do the diagnostics. At least i know whats going on. By the way, any TSB's on this?

Tsb #1003 -- Under Certain Driving Conditions After A Cold Start, The Ecm/pcm Can Miscalculate How Fast The Engine Coolant Temperature Rises And Set Diagnostic Trouble Code (dtc) P0128 Or P1486 (cooling System Malfunction). Honda Servicenews. (nhtsa Id #10004966, October 01 2003)

Doesnt sound SRS related though, unless it is a computer problem?

I think the SRS system usually uses a different control box, so I dont know if you would see SRS codes with an OBDII scanner.

That may sound not related to it but it's the same thing with the seat belt switch problem that makes the SRS light go off because of a defective seatbelt switch. I have look and searched for this problem and it somewhat a common one. Usually, TSB's are out when a manufacturer realize there is a problem with the vehicle complained by a significant number of accord owners. I checked my coolant today and it was dry. I'll add coolant and reset the MIL. Will see what it does after a few hours or days.

here's what I found.

SRS codes go more like 9-3 or 13-4, 15-1...... so the code that was pulled isn't for the SRS at all. If there's no code (no blinks) then most common cause is the voltage regulator going weak.

The SRS codes cannot be pulled by a regular OBD II scanner... You can get flash codes by jumping the SRS service connector under the driver's side dash... It's a yellow connector that is not plugged in to anything.

Did add coolant and tried to reset or erase MIL or SRS light but it did not go away. OBD ll says pass but SRS light is still on. Looks like a jumper reset method needs to be done. I looked under the dash driver side and saw 2 yellow connectors one small and the other one which was bigger but both were plugged. I'll look again for the unplug one. I may need to check voltage of the battery too. Seems to be weak and might be the cause.

This might help:

This might apply to your Accord, too.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but my check engine light came on and I went to auto zone to pull the code. The code they gave me was p0128 and when I did a search for that code I stumbled across this thread. I checked my coolant level and see that its at the Min line with the engine warmed up.

Is there a TSB for this problem and something that I can get covered by the dealer?

First try to turn off the srs light by the methods shown in the link.It works great. No problem.I hope you cant reset the srs by the scanner unless you pull out the 2 wire plug & shot it.

As far as I know, my srs light doesnt need reset, just the check engine light (MIL).

There's no bulletins that have that code. No articles either.... :dunno:

Here's the first phase of the diagnosis:
