What bike rack will fit a Hidden Hitch??? My Yakima won't!

Hey everybody,

I just finished installing the Hidden Hitch on my '06 V6. It was kind of a beotch to install because of the mufflers/heat shields, but I finally got it on there.

So here I am all happy and ready to mount my Yakima bike rack on it, but apparently it won't work on the Hidden Hitch. The hitch receiver seems to have a little notch a few inches back from the end where they have pushed the metal into the inside of the receiver. It looks like this is some type of stopper tab to prevent you from putting anything too far into the receiver. Problem is the Yakima rack's holes for the pin aren't far enough back, so when I put the rack into the receiver it won't push in far enough to get the holes lined up with the ones on the Hidden Hitch... so I have no way of inserting the pin to lock it on.

I'm trying to see who else on here has the Hidden Hitch and a bike rack... what bike rack are you using and does your Hitch have this same tab on it? Does the rack that you have lock onto the hitch (My Yakima had a nice lock kit that I probably won't be able to use on another brand).

Thanks!

have u thought about just drilling another hole in the bike rack's mount?

shouldnt be to hard

just get a metal tap (to give ya a nice little dot to center/start your drill bit on..and drill away (ps. if you have a cordless drill like me...it might take 3-4 batteries worth of drilling..cause they generally have less torque than a corded drill) o ya ..get a carbide drill bit - or make sure its rated for metal..just ask the ppl at your home depot (hardware) store

as for the lock...you will be able to use it if you decide to drill the hole (unless it doesn't fit do to surrounding items)

I have the hidden hitch and a yakima rack. I had to drill out the little tab you are talking about. After that it worked great!
