Hi. I am new to your site and wanted an opinion for the knowledgeable base of Accord fans. I am interested in purchasing a 99 Accord coupe ex with v6 and 190,000 miles. I have never owned a Honda, but am aware of their reputation for dependability, however the 190000 miles scares me a little. Do I have anything to worry about??? Do any of you have an reccomendations to help with long term dependability. If I buys this I'd like to get another 200,000 miles out of her. Is that possible????

Depends on the kind of mileage & the care it's had. All city, then the price better be really good & wonderful records. Freeway, then there's more flexibility on higher miles.
If possible find a shop that will do a 'safety check'. It usually includes brakes measurements, visual for leaks & a compression (better yet a leak-down) test. They often have a flat fee of about an hour for a labor rate.
As far it getting another 200K out of it..... :dunno: if it's been treated well & you continue that, it sure can. We've had a few near 400K.
I bought an '86 with 130K & it was like new! It was 8 years old at the time.
Look in the "factory direct" area of this forum & find info for the year.... it may give you an idea of things to expect.

It would go that far, no problem depending on upkeep.
Ok, with a '98 in the garage with 185k on it, I do have some experience with what you're going to need over time.
200k timing belt, water pump, belts, adj valves, cleaning egr ports, tune up, etc.
Depending on how and where it's been driven, all the shocks and springs with all the rubber parts will be shot. The one here had sagged to a point that it was wearing the inside edges of the front tires pretty hard. The ride difference was very very noticeable. The car was raised nearly 1.5 inches. Parts will run over $400 per axle.
The transmission? Has it been replaced yet? I'd be surprised if it's original.
The alternator, it's a Delphi, so have the charging system checked, these lose diodes, and partially charge, but run REALLY hot, whine, and I've seen a couple burn.
The catalytic converter, if it hasn't yet started throwing P0420 codes, it should. This one died at 170k. Installing aftermarket cats will not solve it as they are nowhere near as effective as a factory cat. Been there too many times on many makes and models.
I'd also have the brakes fully inspected, i.e. slides, caliper boots, rotor condition. The engine, as long as the thing hasn't been abused, should be okay.
Our '98 does NOT like to sit for extended periods (2 weeks or more), the engine will show it's mileage on startup after sitting. Some minor blue smoke and misfire until it rewarms. It doesn't use any oil normally so I just think the valve seals are a little weak.

If you are looking to put 200.000 miles on a car, any car, then 190.000 is a bad place to be starting from!! :thumbsdow
Sure it may make it.. But personaly I would strongly advise against trying it.. :paranoid:

I wouldn't touch that car w/ a 10 foot pole as that tranny might explode.....
Find something else for the money.
