I was curious if there Honda offered any alternative steering wheels. I'd like one that has a slightly thicker rim and is slightly smaller in diameter than the one found in this 2006 picture:

I'd like to stay away from aftermarket steering wheels unless they have the steering wheel buttons and airbag that the Honda factory steering wheel has. Anyone have any pointers?

Well, you should be able to swap wheels with a 3rd gen Acura TL or any Acura TSX, or with a 2003-05 Accord. Of course, that probably doesn't help muich, as I'm pretty sure they're all the same size.

You can try using an S2000 steering wheel or maybe a JDM wheel...my friend has a S2K wheel on his 2000 Accord

Good idea! Though with the S2000 steering wheel, it looks like I might lose the audio control buttons and the voice command (for models with Nav):

I'll have to look into what JDM offers.

Ahhh, yes, of course. I've seen an S2K wheel on a 5th or 6th gen Accord before.

The Navi controls might be able to do a custom bracket for, but the audio controls yeah I think you'd be left in the dark there. If you got really creative I wonder if you could take apart the switchboard on the audio controls and mount smaller buttons on the back of the wheel. I kind of liked it those when I was driving an 06 Grand Caravan SXT...the wheel had a nice clean look and I was able to easily access the controls because they are right where I grabbed the spokes. But for just a simple steering wheel swap I don't think this is a logical amount of work to be doing

Another option if you like the 4-spoke wheel might be a TL steering wheel, the only problem with that is that you'd either 1) have an Acura badge or 2) have to find an Accord airbag. The second problem is that I'm not so sure they are any different in rim thickness and pretty sure they are not any smaller. Maybe stevencrosbie could chime in on this since he has owned both.

Perhaps your final option may be a steering wheel from the new Civic Si...they definitely look a lot smaller but I bet you they will be hard to come by.

And I hope you realize that there really is no guarantee that any of these fit...I know that when they made MMC changes on Acura's around 02-03, they changed all the steering wheels. They looked EXACTLY the same, but only 01-02 MDX/CL/TL wheels would fit my gen Accord and 03+ would not...again they looked almost exactly the same on the outside, but they had a different mount on the inside so they just didn't work :dunno:

what are those two buttons on the lower part of the steering wheel in the first pic?

im guessing it has something to do with navi..since mine doesnt have it

yes, they are the voice and back buttons for the Navi.

Yes, the TL's wheel is much thicker than the Accord's wheel. I think I read the 6MT's wheel is thicker, but I wouldn't put money on that.

If you want a thcker wheel than that, you can get the carbon fiber ASPEC wheel on ebay. They are the thickest of TL wheels.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm not a big fan of the TL steering wheel though, because I don't find a four-spoke steering wheel all that sporty. But it does look like it would preserve all the functionarly of the Accord's, so that makes it a possibility.

You could always just get the metallic trim for your steering wheel, I think that makes it look kind of cool and sporty and vastly different than those wheels without the trim. Or you could get a nice steering wheel cover (not the leopard print ones, the nice ones). I have yet to really investigate any metallic trim packages, but I'm thinking about it.

I don't think that was his point in replacing the steering wheel

No it wasn't, and thanks for pointing it out. :)

I like the look feel of the S2000 steering wheel. I only wish it had the buttons and wiring for all the stuff available on my Accord steering wheel.

A nice leather cover would make it thicker and easier to grip, but wont make it smaller.

Did that to my Lude. Used the 00-03 S2K wheel and bag. 04-05 is different and then the 06 is also different.
