I have a 2006 Accord v6 w/ navi. I believe the updated DVD is now available for $185. Since I have a Pilot and an Accord, the total will be $370 plus tax & shipping. Is it worth it? The site describes the update primarily for states other than my own (MN) and says it has added POIs. Thanks for any input.

I have a 2006 Accord also and have debated on updating. I'll prolly do it cuz I'm anal. My suggestion: if you've found coverage to be lacking or you'll be traveling in one of the updated areas, purchase (1) for the Pilot or Accord and see if there are significant differences from the current disc. That way you're not out the extra $185 for something that turns out to be a marginal upgrade for you.

From the description my current 4.31 is fine for me.

The map is copyable. I have my original put away and I am using a Verbatium Double Layer DVD copy. I just used NERO and had no problems.

Trip-
I like your idea; I think I'll wait to upgrade for now. I can find most everything I need as it is. Not exactly on topic, but do you have an aluminum billet shift knob for your auto transmission lever in the Accord? If so, how do you like it and where did you get it? Thanks.

Overall I've found NAVI to be 99% accurate and don't really need the new disc. Chances are the areas that were "added" are on the current disc but I bet the difference is that they're now "verified" roads instead of "unverified" - probably some subdivisions added and maybe new interchanges added here and tehre but like I said, I've never had an issue and I've been up and down the east coast and as far west as Chicago.

I love my aluminum shift knob. It's a nice accent that goes particularly well with the EX's "brushed metal" look trim. I got it from College Hills Honda. Dealt with them many times. It's easy to install. The knob does not have a leather "wrap" on it like the 6-sp models and TSX and can get hot in the summer if its in direct sunlight for awhile, but it cools down after a few moments. I like the heft of it and how it fits in my hand compared to the standard knob.

Okay.... stupid question: Why can't you use the same update disc for both the Accord and the Pilot?

It does look like the Accord and Pilot use the same white labeled disc but to share a disc you would have to swap it back and forth - the DVD needs to be in while the system is on. Its not downloaded into the system. And sometimes there are certain software updates on a disc that do not allow you to use an older version. Once its in, it might have to stay in or else mapping and other data features may not be correct. I thought I had read also it might even result in the address book being erased in some situations - again depending on what software updates might be.

Any disk that is the same color works for all cars. White is the current color and the same disk works from the TSX to the Ridgeline.

They are not interchangable between colors. A white disk will not work in place of an orange disk.
