View Full Version : Losing posts

When posting, I occasionally proof read and correct errors before submitting the post only to find it is lost in the bit-bucket. I've had this problem repeatedly and only with this site. My workaround is to copy post before posting and repost after logging back in. This has been a pain and I mostly don't bother reposting.

Anyone else having these issues. Like I said, it's only this site that this happens on and has been a constant problem since I registered here. Is there a parameter that needs to be changed in my profile to lengthen the post timeout period?

Before posting this, I'm copying now to avoid having to retype.

I believe the verbage says something about not logged in even though I logged in to respond to a message.

I don't use cookies to auto-login on any VB site I frequent, but I also don't have this problem anywhere else.

Typically, I don't preview. Elapsed time between finishing a post and posting is usually less then 5 minutes. I think it's more related to the whole time period of start to finish. Any help would be appreciated.

I tend to move on when this problem arises rather than stay here.

I have this problem when I use other computers (I'm permanently logged on at home). I found out that if I log on using the main screen (www.driveaccord.net homepage) instead of logging on before I make a post (click Post Reply and it asks you to log on and do it then), I can get the problem to go away. I know it is pretty annoying but what can you say. I notice this problem on Odyclub.com too again never at home, only other places.

I have had a similar problem when replying to a post by clicking on the link in my Hotmail account. Is this what you're doing? The site won't recognize me even though I use cookies. All sorts of problems when I click the link in my email, so I just go to the site & am automatically logged in. No problems then.

No, I never respond from e-mail. I'm usually on the site in lurk mode and then decide to respond or post a new topic.

It may be that I don't usually login first like BB said. But this seems to work when posting shorter replies.

I believe it has happened in both cases over the past year.

Yeah, it only happens to me on this site also. I believe BB probably called out a work around. I'll just have to remember to login when coming here. This is easier said than done as my habit is to be stealthy:)

I have no problems when replying from email. Is there a way to allow a user to stay private even if they're logged on? I thought there is.

Yeah there is. My Profile > Edit Options > Login, Cookies & Privacy > Invisible Mode
