View Full Version : Merry Christmas 06
princess 11-29-2006, 04:46 PM I haven't taken any pictures of the lights outside yet.... but here's a thread for others that have to put this years pictures in. :D
So far we only have "ho-ho'd" the outside. We have all LEDs now. Big red ones on the gutters with icicles hanging down. They crystal clear in the daylight & very cold looking at night.... a vivid blue. I refuse to actually call them blue though. They're just cold. So it's red lights with COLD icicles.
There's also cold icicles hanging from the gazebo in the backyard....
I'll take pictures in a few days....it's too cold out there now!!!
I think we're doing the tree & inside this weekend.
The plans for Xmas is to go to Stonyford. We'll stay in a hotel, not with the kids. They're house is plenty full & I'll have a jacuzzi waiting for me in the hotel room!!
So what's your plans?
Have you decorated? If so, share!!
We're about 80% done with shopping...l.just waiting for the UPS, DHL, FedEx & USPS to do their jobs!! :D We got our son & oldest daughter laptops. (not my idea) We went with Dell, it was just easier for us.
They all think they are getting stuff from Home Depot.... I keep teasing about charging everything there. The guys would love it..... but unless I'm willing to go with big stuff, the girls aren't thrilled. :lmao:
stevencrosbie 11-29-2006, 04:51 PM Nice Princess.
Well, I'll go home for Xmas. I already got my little brother something. Since he's a freshman at USMA, he can't have much, but I got him something he will enjoy for the next 4 years or so.
The Parents.....still not sure about them yet. I need to find something good. I don't like to give "crappy" presents, so I usually spend lots of time thinking about what they would like. Its hard b/c they just buy whatever they want anyways.
We've decorated our dorm room, but not all out yet. We haven't found the time. Maybe this weekend.
I have a Dell laptop. Its the latitude D600 series. Its alright...but my next one will be a Toshiba tablet PC. Those are great for us engineers.
princess 11-29-2006, 05:08 PM I need to find a use for these...they're cool... they have 16 different speed settings!! They were only in multi-colored & pricey, so I didn't buy more than one box. With all the lights except for the cold icicles being red.... I have no clue what to do with them. I just like them. They're VERY bright!:D
I got my mom a electric mattress warmer pad. I have theme going.... I've been buying things to stay or get warm for her for several years now. Except for a set of red Mickey Mouse luggage. They were for a great price & I din't need more luggage & she did. She lives in the cold NV desert & going there from PHX was quite a shock to her!! :)
What I want doesn't cost a dime......
stiller fan 11-29-2006, 05:17 PM i hate how everything seems to be in multiple languages......
/rant
anyways...... my pics will be late again this year, just like yrs past..... i'll post mine up when it gets closer to "russian christmas". :)

princess 11-29-2006, 05:55 PM Home Depot & Kmart
princess 11-29-2006, 06:02 PM Stiller, there's not a time limit....we know your Xmas is later than most of ours... not a biggie. It's not LATE, ours is early!!! :lmao:
jermy4 11-29-2006, 06:14 PM hmmm, that looks alot like the musical light house last year in cincy, ohio....
I hope not. In case anyone is wondering, this (http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/daytondailynews/video/christmaslights.wmv) is what stiller is referring to.
joshb 11-30-2006, 05:12 PM I finally have some stuff up , not much but alot more than most people in my development.
2006 Acura RL-Tech
2006 Accord EX-V6
Amanda Moen 12-01-2006, 12:54 PM We just got power back this morning. Hopefully we'll start getting stuff up next week.
princess 12-01-2006, 02:07 PM I thought I'd figured out what to do with the multicolored LED motion lights.... I was going to use them in side a ceramic tree.... but there's way too many.
So then I thought I'd use them around the bathroom mirror.... still too many.
There's about 15' of them.
Hopefully, I'll come up with something..... :dunno:
I may get out to take a shot of the front of the house tonight.... we were above freezing last night! So it should be warmer tonight. It won't have the tree seen in the window... since we don't have it yet.
The ToyRus packages arrived today. Penneys & Best Buy yesterday.
Now it's Home Depot, Dell, & Disney.
princess 12-04-2006, 08:44 AM I'll get pictures of the decorations soon...but for now......
here's little tinkerbell..... the kid's pup
princess 12-06-2006, 04:44 PM Here is the tree this year with flash
princess 12-06-2006, 04:44 PM without flash
princess 12-06-2006, 04:45 PM the outside in the front....
those icicles sure look COLD.....not BLUE remember!!
princess 12-06-2006, 04:46 PM the gazebo out back....again they are COLD, not blue!!
princess 12-06-2006, 04:47 PM the kitchen entry.....there's 2, this one to the hallway & the other side is into the familyroom.
The balls are Disney color changers, each one has a different character. The string of lights also changes color.
princess 12-06-2006, 04:49 PM last one.... this is where I put the chasing/flashing lights.... on the bedroom mantle..... they are sure bright!!
jermy4 12-06-2006, 04:53 PM Damn princess your house looks like disney land!
Accordlover 12-06-2006, 06:45 PM Here's my contribution :-)
This is our tree this year - we just started with the christmas shopping, so there's not alot under it right now.

Here's what lights I've put up so far. We have so many more lights that I could've ut up, but when I went to get all the lights out of the garage I found that 75% of them were blown out! I replaced fuses, but most has every single light burnt out. :(

And last but not least, my chowie following me around like a magnet as ususal.

Enjoy everyone, and Princess I envy you. Is your tree real? Its HUGE!
Tyler
princess 12-09-2006, 08:31 AM Yes, the tree is real.... I'll continue to get real ones as long as I can.... Later on I suppose we'll be doing the old folks fake tree thing. I like the smell of the fresh ones. I keep it watered & some years they have had new growth!!
It's a fat one this year because with the kids out, we have the room again. I did see one the same shape, but bigger..... :lmao: It's would've needed about 5' cut off to fit. I get teased about always picking ones that need to have some taken off the bottom. They've never been able to figure out that it's actually to keep it fresher longer.
Each year we have added or replaced something.... this year it was all the lights to LEDs. 2 years ago it was putting Mickey on the roof.
Yes, there's several Disney things.... on the tree theres some Mickey bulbs, 2 tinks & 2 Eeyores. Most are either red or cold ones with some sort of sparkely design. Our stockings are Tink & Eeyore. Maybe next week I'll post some of the other decorations....
Now if my prince thinks because they're LED he's leaving the lights up all year.....he's got another thing comin'!! :lmao:
I just love seeing all the decorations!!
Does anyone remember those all shiny silver trees with a light shining on it that had a color circle???? My grandma had one. It was quite the rage in the 60's, I guess.
Accordlover 12-09-2006, 10:47 AM PRINCESS! I HAVE A SILVER TREE IN MY ATTIC!
It was quite the rage, and my mom used to love it. We ususally have it outside at our christmas party each year and if you put blinking lights on it, the refections are pretty cool. It's as tacky as he-double hockysitcks though :)
Tyler
princess 12-15-2006, 03:04 PM Did your silver tree come with the circle light???
princess 12-15-2006, 03:05 PM More of princess' decorations....
the familyroom mantle
princess 12-15-2006, 03:06 PM An eeyore sliding in a "pond"
princess 12-15-2006, 03:07 PM This the table under the plasma TV....
princess 12-15-2006, 03:07 PM The old console TV in the livingroom
princess 12-15-2006, 03:09 PM NOT Disney!!! This is an old Garfield (one of my favorite characters) in Santa slippers. I've had this for about 25 years!
princess 12-16-2006, 04:27 PM I finished up the shopping today. I had a great time out all by myself!!
I spent just over 50 bucks at Mervyns & got a 10 dollar gift card. So I went back in after unloading the bags to the trunk. I found something for myself to wear on Xmas. Something comfy & I could help with dishes in, but cute. Then after standing in the long line again for a while I decided to look at the card..... mind you I hunted for over an hour for the one item I had...... the card is only good from 19-24 of Dec. I put my item back & came home.
I THINK I'm ready now. I picked up a few things for those unexpected people that we end up hearing from bearing gifts.
Next is the ham hunt!!!
I'll take Jarrison out with me when he arrives on Sunday for that adventure.
Accordlover 12-16-2006, 04:45 PM Sounds cool. My mom and I just got back from Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Target, Kohls, IKEA, Nordstroms, and 'The Christmas Store'.
I'm pooped. I dove, and we started with a full tank, and now its just above the half. Each store was across town from each other, and traffic was crazy coming home. I really like this time of year, the stores are crowded, christmas music is playing. It's just fun, fun, fun. I'm not even gonna say how much money was spent. I just know we're gonna regret it later :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: .
Happy x-Mas and Happy 2nd Day of Hanukkah!
Tyler
Accordlover 12-16-2006, 09:47 PM Updated Tree Picture. More presents now. But still more to come :-).

princess 12-17-2006, 09:40 AM I sent a dozen gifts on to Stonyford.... we bought more for the boys, but spent as much on the girls. To keep it looking equal I wanted some of the stuff sent up to them.
I still have 4 or 5 to wrap out in the shed. I don't know how many things there are now, but I used up most of 2 bags of 40 bows, but there's a a few gift bags without bows. :dunno: I TRY to stick to 2 each since there's so many of us.... but it's hard to do. I keep finding things I want to give them! There's 2 for each of us (prince & I). I have one more wrap for him that he doesn't know I bought. The cat has 2, I still need something for Lemmie (the chihuahua). I bought for about 25 people this year.
The tree doesn't look so big now!! :lmao: Until last night's wrapping they looked nicely organized. But now....there's big ones in fron again. I'll deal with it later.
according2me 12-22-2006, 09:17 AM Merry Christmas all.
I'm getting an early gift. I pickup my youngest son today at 5PM. He's arriving from NYC after 4 months up there with PWC. I'm off til Jan 2, so we'll have time to discuss his broadening awareness of this large nation and the big city.
Accordlover 12-22-2006, 09:19 AM Sounds like you two are gonna have a great time!
stiller fan 12-22-2006, 09:32 AM Updated Tree Picture. More presents now. But still more to come :-).
hmmm, this is strange....
i could swear that i saw this picture somewhere before.... :dunno:
Accordlover 12-22-2006, 10:10 AM Nope? Unless I showed it to you. It's the 'real' tree that's been in my living room since the beginning of december. According to iPhoto it was taken on 12-17-06. :-).
popeye 12-22-2006, 11:21 AM I had a great time out all by myself!!
Me too and my Guinness

princess 12-24-2006, 10:26 AM This weeks has been so busy that I dropped a couple of pounds! Isn't that backwards for the holidays??? :dunno: I've been eating even more chocolate than usual. Hard to imagine!
I've been living on chocolate & salty nuts.... I seem to need salties after all the sweets. So I alternate back & forth! Dinner last night was a hunk of fudge. :lmao:
princess 12-30-2006, 03:08 PM Today I DE-ho-ho'd the inside of the house. It always seems so much brighter after the decorations are put away. We'll do the outside sometime this weekend.
Those LED lights weren't perfect. The color change string that was in one of kitchen entries (the Mickey side) went out. The whole string quit on me a couple of days ago. I emailed Lowes. We'll see what they do about it. I don't want a refund, I want working lights. If they don't have the right answer, then I'll let my prince play with them & see if he can figure out what's going on. I'd expect them to last longer than 3 weeks!!
We got a picture of all 7 grandkids that Nicholas decorated the frame, he also made a tin can reindeer. Jarrison painted a wooden Xmas tree for us. My prince got me the coziest robe ever! I've had many over the years, but this one is soft & light weight....but VERY warm. He also restocked me on Winter shirts. I got him some cozy lined Mickey slippers & us matching long sleeved navy blue Tshirts with small Mickeys on them. I now have a slushy maker & he has a new slicer. Now we just need Summertime & we can have jerky & daquiris at the pool!!
The oldest kid hasn't got their gifts yet. She wasn't able to make it for Xmas, so there's still gifts to give!
Our son made it to dinner from Grass Valley. He got lost trying to find his sister's place & drove around in the boonies for an extra couple of hours. Maybe next year we'll get him a handheld Nav!! :lmao:
