Dude,,,sh!t hasn't really changed any, it's just how things are seen and treated (as you pointed out with your examples). However, for all the over-the-top lawsuits, suspicion of the most innocent actions, etc.; a lot of vile things that use to go on but people were to afraid to mention/stop them, are now stopped dead in their tracks.
Plus, the way things are nowdays; gives people like me reason to be like "hey, as long as that naked guy with the butcher knife who's yelling that the queen spider is after him, doesn't come my way; whatever" :dunno:.

Yeah... There's a consequence for everything these days.

I know a guy who almost had his sons taken off him - One had tripped and fallen toward the table, and his school made some phone calls the next day after seeing a bruise. Kid explains what happened - Ignored. Adult knows better.

It's a load of shit.

As my prince puts it: "no good deed goes unpunished".

No matter how much you try.....you have to be afraid.

I wanted to take in foster kids. It had been my childhood dream. I was afraid to be sued, so I didn't.

Things HAVE changed. The sue happy ones have ruined many things for the rest of us!!

I got bit by a dog & no one called the animal control people.
I decided to run away when I was 3 & a stranger brought me home....no one threatened to remove me from my home.
I got shot by a BB gun & no one even called the police.
I didn't have antibacterial soaps & didn't get a cold until I was 6.

I see many truths to the statements of the email!! :)

All we can do is laugh it off.... it's not going to be changing back!!

I walked into a court room with a model rocket engine (it is a bigger version of the thing on the end of a bottle-rocket. It was about the size of a chapstick tube) and was originally charge with carrying an explosive device into a federal court room. As far as the law was concerned, I might as well been wearing a suicide-bomber vest! Finally (after spending almost 2 days in jail as a felon) a judge reviewed the matter and released me.

Now for the record, I'm getting fed up with people b!tching about the over-the-top policing of America, yet Tivo Law & Order, Law & Order SVU, Law & Order CI, CSI, CSI Miami, CSI New York, CSI [fill in the blank], Crossing Jordan, Cold Case, The Closer, Bones, etc. etc. etc.
All these "pampered and proper" people who try to act like (because they watch the above shows) they're so dark and deep, are the first people to run for the hills when the smallest crimal event happens in real life.
BTW, in case you didn't know, all those shows are pretty much complete BS! I got a degree in Forensics and know people active in the field, you don't run down alleys away from exploding cars, no action hero shooting, not everybody in the lab/office/court is a 20-something in a skimpy outfit and brooding with sexual tension, and most of all, you don't put in samples and get your results back in 1 hour (which of course show the one sample you ran was the match out of 1,000,000,000 possible choices)!

:paranoid: ahhhhh sorry, got a bit side-tracked there, but you get the idea.

Why would you carry a rocket engine into a courtroom? What was the purpose?

Your right though not everyone who works in a lab is a 20-something with sexual tensions. But would you watch a show with a 50+ year old technician who has less hair than Mr Potato head and a happy marriage? No, because it's not "entertaining" and that's what TV is all about... being entertaining. You also have to realize that people who watch those shows don't know what the hell those people are doing, so they can speed up the process.

I carried the rocket engine in a little Rx bottle, which was in my backpack (was doing court observation assignment for college at the time). I just thought those little engines were cool so I had one, along with other trinkits like a steel marble and a gyroscopic top.

As for the TV shows; I understand the "entertainment" element, and that's cool with me, but, where it starts to piss me off is when people forget they were watching an "entertainment" show and then think they are all "behind the scenes" and smart. On a personal note; I'm having a very hard time using my degree and getting a job in the field because all the hiring staff at possible job locals are swamped with "I watch CSI all the time, so hire me :hic:" applications.
You don't realize how much it pisses you off until you hear some drunkard at a bar saying "I know how the police should have caught that murderer on the news, I saw this CSI episode where they.............."; or when the college air-head cheerleader says how she is going to be the next real-life "Bones". Get in on the ground floor (or through super strong interest) or get the f@#k out!

It must be pretty laid back where you are. In Southern California, you get searched walking through the courthouse/government building entrance. Metal detectors and the pat-downs. Then again we probably have more of those "drunkards at the bar" who think they can storm the courthouse and get away with it because they watch CSI.

Southern California, I think holds the record for dumbasses.

Anyways, good luck with finding a job! :)

I got a call the other day from someone wanting to add me to the list of people that want the media policed more! Can you imagine? Me?

She didn't listen to me at all & at the end of it she assumed I'd agreed with her speeches.... "can I send you more info on how to be active in community?" UM, NO! "why not?" Because I haven't agreed with most of what you've said.

Yes, there's crap on TV. Yes, there's crap in movies. But why should I be forced to only watch G or PG when often the violence in the R is part of the plot? I don't more regulations. If I don't like it, I don't watch it. I don't watch any of the "reality" or game shows. I do watch the CSIs & NCIS for the who-dunnit factor. I love it when you have to figure it out. What's the point of a crime show about murder without the blood & guts? I certainly don't take their tests & stuff as fact though! These are written to entertain, not teach us how the job is done.

You can't take anything metal in the courts here. Last time I was in a courthouse it was much like an airport. Nellie Kessler kinda made that more real for us.

"But would you watch a show with a 50+ year old technician who has less hair than Mr Potato head and a happy marriage?"

Hey, I know someone who resembles that statement!!!! (well, he's not over 50 yet....but gettin' close!) :lmao:

There is some good news on the horizon, over here people are begining to ignore "political correctness" as its taken to extremes by nutters with "ollogies" and people are getting sick to death of being ruled by minority groups.. lol..

Oddly enough, the defence being used is their right to freedom of speech! :) :D
