View Full Version : What trim level is your car?

I'm making this very specific, and I want everyone that votes in the poll to say why they picked that trim level. For me, it was because it was a used car and I don't like to pick and choose. I just take what comes, the best deal at the best time, and that's all. I'm not picky :) I was open to all 4 cyl models (wanted a manual) but LX or EX would have been fine. I'm glad I have an EX now because I find good uses for the extra features, but no leather :(

Hmmm forgot the VP and SE. Would be nice if the Mods could change the poll to include it. Otherwise, VP owners just put DX, 2000 SE owners put LX, 2002 SE owners put EX (trying to group them with the closest trim level in terms of equipment).

I agree the 2002 SE is really nice. IIRC it has alarm, alloys, CD/cassette, sunroof, wood trim, and a few other misc. items? That's exactly what I was looking for, but I didn't want the auto and 2002 is too new, selling for too much. Didn't want to spend $15K+ to drive to a ghetto school and park outside (garage spaces are taken by my parents cars).

I chose the EX V6 in my 02 model b/c I "had" to have the V6. We chose the EX for several reasons. Side air bags. Climate control. Leather although I believe the LX V6 was available with leather. We could afford it. Paid it off in 9 months. It was my first new car so I got it with everything that I wanted. :D

It won't let me edit....I tried

We went with the EXL-V6 w/nav because we have loved having the nav in the Pilot, I really appreciated the V6 in the '02, wanted the duel climate control, & pretty much any other bells & whistles! It was a booger to find the trim level we wanted in blue......but they did it!

Main reason......I'm just plain spoiled rotten!!

Yup I tried editing it too, I think only Wards can do it.

I guess the mods can only edit where they are mods at! Send him a note & I'm sure he'll change it pretty quick.

Don't you just love it when you want something & you actually get it?? Finding a blue one made me appreciate it even more just because that's what I wanted. My last 3 cars were dark brown, dark gray, then silver.....I wanted something different. I couldn't go red, that's what we did in the Pilot. So went blue. Plenty of pizazz for me. I get lots of comments when people see it in the sunshine! That's when it looks like a royal blue. :)

Looks like the majority of ones in the poll have a V6. More members should vote, I know there's many more 4's out there!!

Yes... LX for me.

If I would've kept my old car (2000 Intrepid) longer, I would've paid more of it off... but by the time I broke even with it (no negative equity) it would have over 100K miles on it.... and I wasn't about to pay what I was paying per month for a car with over 100K on it.

So I went with the LX. I have a bit of negative equity (about $4K) but thanks to the Accord's high resale value (as opposed to my old car's complete lack of resale value) I will come out ahead on the Accord sooner than with almost any other car.

If the most I have to give up with the LX is the EX's alloy wheels and sunroof (I was originally looking at a 4-cyl. EX.. with cloth)... which appears to be the only major differences between the two models, I can certainly live with it. :)

Do I wish I would've waited longer? Sometimes... but not really. The LX is still a great car. Believe it or not, but it has things my old car didn't... such as rear seat headrests, rear seat cup holders, keyless entry/trunk release/windows, ABS, 5-speed automatic (which I like a lot), and.. of course.. superb build quality and quality interior materials (versus a lot of cheap-feeling plastic in my Intrepid).

Did I make a mistake? Should I have waited to get the car I wanted more? What do you think? :)

I picked the EX coupe because I had owned 2 LX Civics and thought it was finally time to move up in the trim level with this one! I wanted the 6 disc cd cahnger and the alloy wheels and the moonroof/sunroof.

It wasn't easy to find the exact car I was looking for though! I wanted a specific color (nighthawk black) the EX trim with the cloth interior and a manual tranny... I was willing to get an auto if they would've found one of those first, but the manual popped up first! (That was the only thing I was willing to give in on though.)

EX-L here.

I didn't really pick the Accord, my wife did. I just ended up with it. :)

i picked the LX I4 because it was within my budget and I wanted a car with good gas mileage since i commute 80 miles a day. i was very tempted to get the LX V6 but i already had a fast car before and IMHO its not really worth it here where there is always traffic and careless drivers. for me, driving a fast car here is more of a burden because you always have to keep a light foot on the gas and hold back the urge to step on it...especially if there is a cop behind you.

anysia

...not like the i4 isn't fast too! atleast in the mt form! ;)

The I4 with the 5spd automatic isn't exactly slow either. :)

I'm happy with it.

i haven't had the opportunity to drive the i4 at.... :(

i wouldn't think it would be very slow though! i never thought my 03 civic was all that slow either-i always felt like the numbers lied about the hp in that thing! :D

I was happy with the L4's until I got a V6. They were great to me! :D

Im not saying the I4 is slow, in fact it is faster n the 1/4 mile than alot of other cars its size. I am saying i didnt get the v6 because i used to have a quick little crx that could do 0-60 in 7 seconds flat and i had enough of trying to drive with a light foot. ;)

i'd love to have a v6 6spd or even the at, but judging from what i'm capable of so far with the i4 mt, i'd be a terror on the road with the 6! ;) i think i'll stick with the 4 cyl until i learn to control myself on the road better! :lmao:

I wouldn't mind a 6-speed V6 except that it's so low on torque. Compare to the Altima 3.5SE, 212lb-ft vs. 250lb-ft+ (other variations of the VQ35). I love torque, I don't like revs. The Honda V6 revs, the Altima V6 is a torque monster :)

Unity1
10-07-2004, 06:07 PM
Too bad the VQ35 comes in such ugly vehicles. :)

The Altima is okay... but those hideous recessed and orange-colored gauges... ickk.

BenjiBoy650
10-07-2004, 06:23 PM
Well that's subjective. The Altima and Accord are twins up front, and I give the Altima the edge in the rear. As for the gauges, I hear they're brand new for '05 :)

Unity1
10-07-2004, 06:42 PM
Eh..

The rest of the interior doesn't inspire me like the Accord's avant garde interior.

The 05 interior is a step in the right direction, but it still wouldn't get me to buy one.

You're right though... it is all subjective.

anysia
10-07-2004, 07:16 PM
i haven't driven or seen the interior of the 05 altima's yet. i just hope that it really is a huge improvement over their 04 altima!

haven;t been much of a fan of any nissan i've driven yet though... they seem to fight you when you try to push them to go... torque or no torque, they just don't react to the driver very well! but that's just my opinion. i haven't driven a stick in any nissan yet either, i've only driven the at's.

BenjiBoy650

I haven't driven any Nissan yet either, just goin by the numbers so far lol. But I've been in a V6 Accord before, it gave me the impression that it was really a monster. It felt realllly smooth, dunno if it was really not that powerful or I was just deceived by how smooth it was.

Went with the V6 Navi for three reasons. One, the nav because I am into gadgets. Two, the V6 because I am use to driving V8s. Don't get me wrong, I was impressed with the 4, but wanted the extra "giddyup." Three, got a great deal (factory to dealer rebate) on this loaded one as it was an '04 leftover.

I picked EX-V6 because

1. There is no EX-V6 Navi option in Canada
2. I wanted a V6 engine.
3. If I picked LX-V6, and added 4 alloy wheel, the price would be very close to EX-V6. So I decided to go for EX-V6 directly, considering other neat features in EX-V6, such as, leather seats, TCS, dual zone climate control, etc.

I really wanted the V-6 but also wanted a sedan and a manual shift. Sooo I went with the 4 banger EX with a 5 speed stick so I could still enjoy shifting it myself.

I think Honda needs to offer the V-6 and manual (5 or 6 speed) in the sedan. Many makers offer a sport sedan, come on Honda!

My '98 Accord LX had the features I wanted (4-cylinder, AT, decent stereo, cruise control, cloth seats) at a good price. I commute 110 miles per day so the 4-cylinder seemed like the way to go. I also like the lighter weight and less isolated suspension associated with the 4-banger. That said, we have the six in our Odyssey and it is quick, fast and smooth. The 6-cylinder Accords must be awesome!
