: Will the Dealer Fix This?

My Accord had its 90k done at the dealer, a costly $1493.67 worth of service.

That included the Water pump, all engine seals, t-belt, valve adjustent, new spark plugs and wires etc.

Here's my issue - I just realized that the 2 leaking o-rings on my car are parts that the Honda Dealer ~supposedly~ replaced last year in December when I had the service done. Now after looking at my papers from that service, the work is warranteed for 12mo/12,000miles. I just happen to be almost at 14k miles since the service. What can I do? I talked to the service advisor at honda and she said I have to pay for them to look over everything, and if they find its the O-rings then they'll decide weather or not to replace them under goodwill as my warranty on the work is about 2000 miles out the window.

Cylinder 2 and 3 Sparkplug tubes are flooded in oil, the car thanfully starts/runs fine though. If my meahcnic does it, he told me they only repalce all 4 seals at a time, and that the work is going to be about 300 with labor.

I'm ticked that 1500 service wasn't done properly, and then it fails 2k after the warranty is over.

Any thought on how to deal with this?

I realize you spent a lot of money, but try asking the dealer. They can only say no. You must also realize the service was done almost a year ago and the car is a '96. I'm sympathetic to your problem, but see what the dealer says first. They may goodwill it! Good Luck.

Crossing fingers.

Got a call from Honda this morning, the service advisor was happy to tell me everything I ALREADY knew, and the price of the work that needed to be completed, a hefty $358.00 estimate. I asked her if anyone had actually told her what my car was there for. She said that I came in becuase I had a 'concern' that seals were malfunctioning in my enigne, but I wasn't sure. I told her that I knew what was leaking, my mechanic knew what was leaking, and we didn't even have to do anything but spend 5 minutes under the hood pulling sparkplug tubes out. Lastly, I asked her if she knew that these failed O-rings were replaced less than 15k ago, by that same dealership for about an arm and a leg ($1500.00). She didn't have a CLUE! I was totally disappointed, and after my visit over to the Honda dealer after my dentist appointment today I was even more pissed off at the fact that nothing I told the person I dropped the car off was on the techs profided paperwork for the car. It simply had a code, and a procedure. I've never had this happen before, so now I have a 2 hour labor charge for a 120pt vehicle inspection. Only to tell me everything I already knew. Back to the issue. I explained everything to the manager, and he told me that the car could be looked at by the Zone Office Person that comes out for goodwill repairs once a week. However, my car has to stay there until tomorrow, which I agreed to do.

Simply put, the rings could've been leaking by the first oil change after the service, I just never looked at the tubes until recently. Hood news is, that the car checks out A-ok for the 120pt inspection. The tech said if it were still eligible it'd be a certified used car in a heartbeat :) !

More tomorrow I suppose. You think you're getting the best at the dealer until something like this happens.

Got my car back everyone!

Goodwilled, with a deductible of 50 bucks! I got a new valve cover seal out of the deal too, since apparently once you take the valve cover off, the seal doesn't always close up right again. Thanks Honda!
