I see that somebody else thinks the 7th Gen Accord could use a longer looking rear end.

I'm happy w/ my rear just the way it is.

Hmmm... that didn't come out just right. Oh well.

Me too! Any way you slice it, I agree with it. :)

i test drove an 02 ex before we bought the 03 lx and i liked the look of the 02 better than the 03. my wife (the decision maker) liked the 03 better though.

From a technology and style standpoint, the 03 interior is much better than the 02. The 02 actually was bigger in several dimensions, but the 03 looks much better to me. I'm just worried about maintenance and durability of the new interior, it seems like there's an awful lot of stuff in there to break/crack/etc.

Sorry, I hate to disagree with BB, but.....remember....I owned both.....

the '03 is a tad longer & wider, there is a .2" difference in heigth ('02 a tiny smidgen taller) The '03's wheel base is an inch wider.

The '02 just looks bigger due to the more bubble shape.

Honda's never had what I'd concider a super durable interior. They will last if you keep them maintained well.

Comparison of 1999 EX vs. 2004 EX (so both have sunroofs). 99 before the slash and 04 after the slash. 99 specs are from AHM ownerlink (mine) and 04 are from Honda homepage. Bold indicates the "winner" (the bigger dimension)

Front Headroom: 38.5/38.3
Rear Headroom: 36.5/36.8
Front Legroom: 42.1/42.6
Rear Legroom: 37.9/36.8
Front Shoulder Room: both 56.9
Rear Shoulder Room: both 56.1
Front Hiproom: 54.9/54.6
Rear Hiproom: 54.1/53.5
Cargo Volume: 14.1/14.0
Passenger Volume: 98.3/97.7

I also considered getting a base Accord DX (it's always cold here anyways) before I found mine, so I looked up the specs before. I remember being puzzled as to why the old one is bigger...isn't that the opposite of progress? lol

So I guess the "skin" is thicker!
owner's manuals for each:

L- '02 188.8 vs. '03 189.5
W- '02 70.3 vs. '03 71.5

Probably more sound insulation - something that mine really needs more of. I might take that project up, adding some Dynamat to the 4 doors, trunk, hood, etc, and at the same time doing the speakers and fixing my intermittently sticky driver's door lock. And I could actually do this as a school project too...whaddya think, will ya help me out guys (and girls)?

The doors wouldn't be such a big project, if being done when replacing speakers anyway. They usually just have a water shield, so if you put something towards the outside it shouldn't be at the window track. :)
