I have a 2006 Honda Accord LX-V6 with about 9000 miles at this point and it has developed a rattle that I'm wondering if anyone might be able to help me with.

I am planning on taking it to a dealership soon, but since you guys here seem pretty knowledgeable mechanically I figured I'd ask for some help just in case you might be able to provide an extra info I'd be able to pass along to the Honda mechanic. Usually, I get the "Nothing's wrong with your car. We can't hear the rattle" runaround at the dealership when I've gone their with my old cars.

Anyway, here's the dirt:

The rattle itself sounds like it's coming from outside the cabin, definitely some kind of metal on metal. Very light, but noticeable rattles (at a rate of a few per second) whenever I accelerate after a cold start. Once the car warms up, the rattle goes away. It happens only on acceleration and goes away when I let up on the gas. This happens at any speed and even under very light acceleration. Other than the rattle, every thing seems fine with the car.

Any ideas?

Check the heat shields. Also look around the exhaust flexpipe and see if they are touching anything. Bounce the suspension up and down a few times manually, does it make any noise? Look for loose things inside the engine too, of course...motor mount maybe.

Wasn't there a TSB or something put out for misaligned exhaust piping? I know on my old Sunfire it would rattle when I hit the gas... :dunno:
