Gentlemen,

I traded in my '04 a few months back for a shiney new '07. In my 04 I had installed the SNHOND3 (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html) PIE adapter, connected directly to the factory head unit. I used this for both my iPod and Sirius satelite radio. Also, I installed a ground loop isolator to remove any "noise" when listening to my sirius radio because it got its power from the accessory power outlet. So when time came to trade that puppy in, I disconnected everything nice a neatly for use in my new 07. So when install day came I thought it would go in as simply as it did in my '04 but that is not the case. It seems I can not get the head unit's PIE female connection as easily as in my Non-Navi equip'd 04. There seems to be a large obstructing object in the way. Does anyone know what this is? Or how to remove it simply without damaging anything. I'm usually good at installing simple audio mods but I can't seem to find any instructions on removing what I'm guessing to be a part of the Navi system, which is blocking access to the head unit. Any suggestions, prior install pics w/navi, or even manufactors instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

I borrowed this picture from another post, but it shows you up close what you are up against. To sum it up, you have to be patient and just pull the connector out. It is not as exposed as the other version, but it is possible to do it without removing the radio.

Good Luck

Is that above pic from a navi unit though? I thought navi's had the aux connector higher and on the back (so just before the screen if that makes sense). Someone did post a pic a while back...not where where and what forum it was on....

EDIT: Found one...not the greatest but meh....

So do I have to pull the whole headunit out? And if so does anyone have instructions on how? Or where to even start for that matter. The first picture looks like it was from my old non-navi accord.

Ok so it seems I need to take the radio out from the top as opposed to my 04 where i could just remove the compartment under the radio to get to the female PIE connector. Any one know where I can get my hands on instrunctions on how to get the thing out?

Well you "might" be able to feel your way back there and get it in...but I think most navi users do need to take it out. As far as I know, you have to remove the upper vent panel and then the deck should just unscrew (might be a few screws down below behind/between the cubby and the radio.

In terms of instructions, I'm sure princess should be able to get you some direct instructions, however this might be enough to get you started:

http://www.handa-accessories.com/accord/musiclink.pdf

Essentially its the instructions for adding MusicLink, but it also shows the removal of the upper vents. Once you get that off, I figure its just a number of screws that need to be removed, and maybe with that panel off you can see well enough to just plug it in without removing anything else. :dunno:

One word of caution...from hearing other peoples posts, the upper vent can be scratched easily when removing it. Go really slow and don't do anything you are unsure of (esp considering this is close to eye-level when driving your car...so any scratches/chips/etc will be easy to see).
