Hey everyone I just recently bought a 06 Honda Accord LX and I want to know is how do you make the backseat windows go all the way down.
On mine both side seem to go down but stop at a certain part like there is a child portection on or something.
Are the 06 made that way? Please advice.

They are made that way. Only way you are going to make it go all the way down is to remove the side impact beams and re-engineer the window mechanisms.

It's been a characteristic of sedans for many years now.....
I'm not sure if it's safety beam placement or stupid proofing for kids that started it. :dunno: Maybe both..... It may be a one of the government mandated things now......
Welcome to the forum!! Wish we had better news for you.

The last sedan I drove with windows that went all the way down was my dad's '81 Accord. Since then, all the sedans I've owned or driven have back door window that don't go all the way down. I used to think they were made this way to prevent people or kids from sitting in the window opening, but the strange thing is that some SUVs still have back door windows that go all the way down. :dunno:

I think its more the way the wheel well cuts into the door, there is just no where for the track of the window to continue.

That's what I thought as well but I've heard about the side impact beam being in the way theory too. Supposedly the windows WERE supposed to go all the way down until they had to put that thing in at the last minute because it failed the side impact test. But either way...it's not going down all the way anymore

Funny. I always thought it was because doors arent as thick as they were years ago to make cars narrower & shorter & that the curve of the glass or the rear wheel arch intrusion into the door area didn't leave enough inner door area to accomodate all of the glass.

I heard this one, too. Makes me miss our old '90 Accord. I highly doubt it's a child proofing safety thing. To me it's more dangerous that they don't go all the way down. It hurts when you get your arm stuck between the glass and the pillar. I've got skinny arms, and I've gotten my arm pinched between the glass and the pillar. Little kids have skinnier arms than me, they'd be able to pinch their arms even further down than I would.
The back windows of the Ridgeline go all the way down, if I remember correctly from my dad's test drive.
