well guys, i just finished my first tank with my new intake. 260 miles when it hit the red! that's like 80-90 less than normal...bad for my wallet, but at least my foot is happy :D

oh, and i cruised around w/o my spare today. basically no difference. just wanted to see what type of changes it would make  basically none

That comes out to about 18.5MPG, not too bad, but not great either, depending on your driving habits.

I didn't know that they made CAI's for the 4cyl accords - nice find :)

Was your driving style any different?

You were probably driving a little more aggressively as you figured out what kind of performance gain came with the intake.

I would be more interested in tanks #2 and #3.

Well I might be joining you guys soon enough. Average MPG for me is 23.5 (US), however that includes a fair bit of highway driving. Now with the snow hitting us (luckily we lasted this long without it) I'll be limited to using surface streets to avoid damaging the paintwork with flying salt and debris (already been doing this for about a month coming home from work only...but thats more for having a longer drive time to de-stress after the workday).

Only reason I figure I haven't hit below 20 is that the roads I use are fairly clear and with the 6MT if I "listen" to the car I can still pull off decent MPG numbers...

I hit 19.3MPG once...does that count? I think that was shifting at 2000RPM too...definitely all wrong. When I took the car into the mountains/snow for the first time last week and it was all about stop/go/idle (waiting for them to clear the highway) and then redline/shift/redline/shift (trying to climb)...even then 33.4MPG :notworthy

boooo! 33.4 :thumbsdow 19.3
on a hypocritical note, during my pre-intake days, i think the highest i ever got was 390 something, driving 90% highway, with no acceleration whatsoever. for some reason i was expecting even better MPG from my accord but oh well :blah:

I just don't understand getting less than 400 miles per tank. I drive 70% hwy and 30% city , drive it like I stole it all of the time and always get to the 400 mile mark before the low fuel light comes on

Accords vary a lot...just like in my example it's a lot on how you drive. They seem to like the "floor it all the time and get better MPG" theory, at least in my own experience. Even when I hypermile to the best of my ability I don't see the increases that you do on other cars. V6 and I4 also have to play the fuel economy game differently...the V6 can get GREAT numbers on a highway, enough to make up for some city driving. The I4 can't do it as much but they get better city numbers to make up for it.

Also depends a lot on how you define a "tank." By most people definition it's when the fuel light comes on. For me, I'm already eyeing gas stations by 1/2 tank and get jittery by 1/4. I've only ever seen the fuel light turn on twice in my car...I don't even remember where it is now.

I think im the bluest of you all. lol

My intake should literally be here any minute. I shall post the results of the gas milage after the first tank with it is complete.

With all stock engine, I get anywhere between 250-315 mpg on the tank, tank to me is when the light comes on or right before it does. I get more around 300 all the time, but I get below 300 when I get "antsy" driving home from school. I also do 90% city and 10% highway, and sometimes the high way is still stop and go.

lol, I'll probably be doing the same thing (only thing keeping me back is border charges and the worry that I'll somehow create a rattle). Still something I am considering when the weather is warmer in the spring and I can work on the car again.

I'll post pictures as soon as I do it. I'm not worried too much about rattles, since they are just lights. I priced it all out on Ebay and it comes to around 15 bucks with shipping for 2x 3175 (6 LED) and 2x 168 (4 LED). I already ordered the LED's for the license plate, I'll see how those turn out and decide whether or not I need more LED's on the interior lights. I plan on doing like Bluek24Ka (sp?) did only with white LEDs and white strips on the foot areas.

I went to Walmart yesterday and got new white GE Nighthawk 1157 bulbs for the front turn signals (the orange was killing me). They only cost $2.86 out the door. They still look orangish-yellowish when you have the lights on, but when you hit the turn signal, they are bright white. I give them about a 8/10.

dear sir, you have inspired me. (on the turn signals that is) :D :D
is changing the turn signals the same as headlights? remove wheel well? i think if i have a CAI i should be able to just reach behind right?

faderrific
12-28-2006, 08:53 AM
Same as the headlights, the left one is a little harder though since it's up in there and you have to be careful not to touch the bulb on anything, so it doesn't get hot and blow. The right side is even easier, I have the CAI and you still have to go through the wheel well, but as soon as you pull back the lining, it's right there..

I think you guys are WOT too much with the intake, don't get me wrong it's awesome and I do it every once and awhile, or when someone cuts me off. But regardless, I do all city driving and I've had my CAI for about 3 months now and I still average 24-25 MPG.

Off topic - I bought my lights from superbrightleds.com and the strips are from a guy on ebay called lck_led. I can hook you up with links if you'd like.

On topic - I installed my CAI today and it is awesome. The sound is great and the powerband feels awesome and more responsive. Cant wait to do more mods.
