I'll try to get some up-close pics posted shortly thereafter. namegoeshere 01-02-2007, 09:37 PM Damn.... January 8, 2008? That means we're going to have to wait another year. :thumbsdow :D stiller fan 01-02-2007, 10:04 PM will NOT be there... day after chrtistmas for me... Accordlover 01-02-2007, 11:29 PM Damn.... January 8, 2008? That means we're going to have to wait another year. :thumbsdow :D No, no, no lol. 2008 Model year at NAIS 2007. Conundrum 01-03-2007, 06:05 AM lol all you guys...I've fixed the title now, as they obviously meant 2007 in terms of the date of showing. I've got mixed feelings about seeing the 8th gen coupe. On one hand I hope its an amazing car that blows away what all the competition has to offer (esp Nissan in the power department)...On the other, I don't want it to be THAT much better than my 7th gen coupe, otherwise I'm going to be kicking myself for not waiting it out a little longer (although in honesty I doubt my Sunfire would have made it until the new coupe is in showrooms here in Canada). ezshift5 01-03-2007, 07:56 AM I've got mixed feelings about seeing the 8th gen coupe. I really can't imagine the 2008 being that much superior to my 7th Gen. II. Realistically, I doubt that CarsDirect can replicate anything close to the 23.4k they provided in brokering the deal for my '05 coupe. But I look forward to the test drive none-the-less. all the best, ez... OwAce 01-03-2007, 07:59 AM I'll be there on the 10th. I hear you. If it turns out to be as awesome as all the rumors make it out to be, then I might just have to trade up.... probably for a 2009 or 2010 model. I would want to make sure there aren't any issues with the new gen first. Conundrum 01-03-2007, 01:44 PM I hear you. If it turns out to be as awesome as all the rumors make it out to be, then I might just have to trade up.... probably for a 2009 or 2010 model. I would want to make sure there aren't any issues with the new gen first. See I would have wanted to do the same thing (get a 2009 over a 2008), and I knew my car wouldn't make it that long. Also, I did really like the look of the 7th gen coupe, and for all I know, the new coupe could look terrible to my eyes. Also, had I waited and had my Sunfire been able to make it, I would have saved up enough additional money to get the new G35 coupe, which I probably would have done anyhow. All in all I'm VERY happy with my purchase decision...I'm just hoping I'm not "less happy" on the 8th... :lmao: Egon 01-03-2007, 06:56 PM press pass?I wish. Actually, I've been an annual attendee at NAIAS for the past 10 years. My wife has family in the Detroit 'burbs and, well, Motown is never more beautiful than while in the clutches of the early January deep freeze. Ah...grimy slush and small arms fire...beautiful, no? :D Usually, we attend during the regular show and endure huge crowds and 12-year-olds bouncing around in every other driver's seat (okay, I go for the cars, my wife usually finds a comfortable place to sit somewhere around the half-way point). This year though, I'm going to the Autoweek Design Forum that takes place during the preview week. It's costly, but for a certified car nut such as myself it sounds like an E ticket at Disneyland. The morning program includes a panel of current design chiefs from several auto nameplates and a few other automotive luminaries. The afternoon is spent touring the Cobo floor. As I understand, there are guided tours or individuals may venture out amongst the engineers. The primary focus of the day is to allow the suppliers and teams of engineers to size up the competition and thus it's not uncommon to see Toyota pocket protectors wandering around the Honda display and vica-versa. The digital camera is charged up and ready to go. I'll let you all know how it all turns out. OwAce 01-03-2007, 07:45 PM I wish. i is part of the investor group. i get there jan 7th tuesday. spend the next 3 days combo of wining and dining with the auto oem execs and the car show.  namegoeshere 01-08-2007, 10:56 PM Well, no one's mentioned it yet, but the Accord coupe concept has been revealed. http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=648500 http://sohc.vtec.net/news_files/648500/acc_pr-02.jpg Don't know how I really feel about it just yet... I like it, but there's something that just doesn't jive with me... can't put my finger on it. The front (especially the grille) kinda reminds me of the Scion tc (see pic #6 (http://www.vtec.net/news/news-image?image=648500/acc_pr-06.jpg)) while the headlights remind me of the ones from the Lexus IS250/350. The rear design looks like something that would come from Nissan/Infiniti or even Saturn. Viewing it from the side (pic #7 (http://www.vtec.net/news/news-image?image=648500/acc_pr-07.jpg)), the car kinda reminds me of the current gen Toyota Solara. I prefer the 7th Gen coupe instead. But maybe this just needs time to grow on me. :dunno: More pics can be seen here (http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=649408). Carnutz 01-09-2007, 04:21 AM I did the same thing as you.. I thought about waiting for the next gen.. but that's OK.. First of all.. it's still a concept model.. so we don't know how it's going to turn out. It will also be a larger car.. The 07 Accord has all the running changes and fixes from this generation as opposed to the first model year. Enjoy your ride... the resale will still be high if you bail out.. lol all you guys...I've fixed the title now, as they obviously meant 2007 in terms of the date of showing. ESHBG 01-09-2007, 06:59 AM I really like it! I can't wait to see what the sedan looks like...I sure hope it doesn't end up like the new Civic, where I loved the coupe and hated the sedan (although the Civic sedan has grown on me a little). Regardless, there are some pretty cool cars coming out this year and maybe I really should fix up my car and hold off a little. :dunno: Conundrum 01-09-2007, 08:44 AM http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9493 And as I mentioned in that thread, if I were to bail it would be to a G35 probably (if I still wanted 2 doors) or maybe a 3-series (if I wanted 4 doors). Still hurts a bit to see this when my car is only 10 months old (actually not even 10 months until the 24th). namegoeshere 01-09-2007, 09:57 AM Now I know what's turning me off about the car.... it's the front of the car. If you remove the front of the car (oh, and put a nice set of wheels on it -- like these Weds Sports SA90's) then it starts to really come together. I think Honda needs to re-work the front end of the car. One thing I really like about this concept is the minimized wheel gap (looks like the Civics).... now it's kinda pointless to lower it. stevehecht 01-09-2007, 10:14 AM Now I know what's turning me off about the car.... it's the front of the car. I think Honda needs to re-work the front end of the car. I think it's the lower half of the front fascia that falls really flat and makes the whole front end look dead. If they added a creative fix for that it could bring the whole front end together.
