I'm getting to a point where I'd like to replace the stock speakers in my 04 Ex sedan. I'm just looking to do the speakers at this point, I don't want to mess with the head unit.

- how difficult is it to replace the front door speakers? I've looked but don't see any obvious points to open the panel to get at the speakers.
- any recommendations on speakers, from others who've upgraded their cars?

Thanks in advance. Back to my coffee.

Behind the chrome handle that opens the door from inside is a piece of plastic or ruber. If you pull that out with a sharp tool there is one or two screws that you remove. also there is one or two more in the handle you use to close the door just remove the ruber mat that is sitting in there. after you have removed the screws ( I think there are 3 total/door) then you have to take a thin flat bar to pop the clips in the side of the door panel that hold the panel in place.

i had my speakers installed by Circuit City. My friend is the store manager and he gave me a good deal on them, and said it was a total PITA! I guess the 6.5" in the front door are not normal size 6.5s and they had to do some cutting to fit in my aftermarket speakers. I too wanted to keep my factory head unit, but also wanted to add a sub in the back. If you are looking to do this I would warn you that after my two amps were installed I found out that the head unit was not strong enough to power both amps and now I am waiting for a "line driver" to come in. I am told that this will boost the signal to the amps. Right now I am not happy with the way my stereo sounds but many people have told me that once I get a stronger signal to the amps it will rock!!

This is what I have in there so far:
2 6.5" Polk Momo front speakers
2 6x9 Polk Momo Read speakers
Audiobahn 4 channel amp
audiobahn 2 channel amp (for the sub)
1 10" Audioban sub

I thought about doing the install with my brother, he has some knowledge about car stereos. I am glad I had Circuit city do it. It really sounds like they had a lot of work to do to get this done. I wasnt there though so I didnt see everything that went into it.

I hope this helps! Good luck with yours.

Sweet, thanks for all the info.

I guess this falls into the category of "stuff left to an expert".

i dont' mind paying someone if I don't have to worry about screwing up my car.

Thanks again,
