They don't burn out as quickly as the Silverstars do. haiyter 05-04-2007, 11:32 PM sylvania arent worth it in my opinion due to the fact they cost alot. I bought these for 6 bucks. .99 cents starting bid and then like 5 bucks for shipping on ebay brickman 05-05-2007, 06:54 AM Not to be rude but I don't think that namegoeshere asked for your opinion on his suggestion. tlend asked for suggestions, not opinions. How long have you had yours Haiyter? How often are they used and for how long? $7 shipped is a good price. Wondering what the longevity of yours are. True, the Sylvania's are expensive, but once in a while you can find them on sale at, say Pep Boys, and after rebate(s) they can be around the same price as what you paid for yours. jbuffethed 05-05-2007, 02:25 PM buy 2 more stock high beams, cut the notches out stick them in the lowbeam socket and bam. Bright headlights. Brother did it to his accord, I did it to my grand am and gonna do it to my accord when I get back from my deployment. Never had a problem after 3yrs. AZ has them for a few dollars more... I think I'd rather pay a few dollar more for quality bulbs that I know won't burn out in 3 months... I installed Silverstar Ultras in mine. They were great the first month or two I got them, but now they're beginning to dim out. It gets really hard to see the road when it's wet with just the headlights on... :paranoid: ypsibird 05-07-2007, 06:17 PM You can try some Sylvania Cool Blue if you can find them. They have a slightly HID look, are reasonably reliable, and don't cost too much. Probably don't have as much output as stock, but they look good for cheap. I'd stay away from Silverstars based on my experience with them. They burned out in about 3-4 months when I put them in my wife's car. Maybe the Ultra's are ok. s2kav6's suggestion of PIAA's is a good one. Good quality but not cheap. I really like my HIR bulbs which are whiter than stock and about 25 -30% brighter as well. Not cheap however, unless you can find a John Deere dealer selling them for a good price. haiyter 05-08-2007, 09:37 PM XtraVisions are $18 a pair at my local Wal-Mart.... Thanks Aviography 08-03-2007, 09:49 AM 9006 for low beam, 9005 for high beam. I know you did not ask for an opinion, so here are my thoughts: - The fake white HID look don't seem to fare well when the weather deteriates, general observation is that they are worse than the full spectrum conventional headlight bulbs when the road is wet etc. - I use modified 9005 for my low beam in the Integra, hadn't gotten around doing to the Accord yet simply because it's a pain getting to the low beam bulbs. - If you can get over the fake white look, and actually getting some usable light, then you may want to look into the HIR bulbs, do a search in Google for HIR headlight and you just may change your mind on the fake white HID bulbs Let us know what you decide. SSMV6 08-03-2007, 10:06 AM had mine for 3 months and still working, and streetglow has a 1 year warrantee. besides, i never seen a bulb burn out the way you make it sound unless u leave your headlights on 24/7 Funny thing that this thread was brought back now.... My Sylvania Silverstar Ultras just burned out after 9 months of use... Both bulbs burned out within 3 days of each other.... I use my headlights maybe 20 minutes a day for the past three months and before that, it gets maybe 30 minutes of use per week... :dunno: dodgerblue18 08-03-2007, 02:54 PM thanks for your opinion. I am looking to get some super whites? The fake xenons lol. I was wondering with what brand/make to go with since I am hearing all kinds of negative reviews about all lights. Has anybody had success of longer than 1 year on their lights? Thanks SSMV6 08-03-2007, 03:46 PM I've only had a pair of PIAA Plasma H4's and my set of XtraVisions last more than a year.. A year and a half each to be exact. The second set of PIAA plasmas only lasted for 9 months. All the other ones I've tried only lasted for 6-9 months. Some of the ones I've tried were Sylvania Cool Blue, Optix?? (made by Toucan Industries), Sylvania XtraVision, Sylvania Silverstars (regular and Ultra). Other than the Silverstars, the rest were H4 bulbs (dual filament). I take care of my headlights by never shutting down the engine with them on and I only use them sparingly. After the last set, I said to myself, enough is enough... so I went back to regular bulbs as a replacement. stevel 08-04-2007, 08:23 AM Funny thing that this thread was brought back now.... I just put in silver star ultras to replace the GE Nighthawk bulbs I had. one of them burnt out in about a years time, 14K miles with the headlights on any time the car is driving... hope my silver star ultras last longer than yours did.......... Renegade 08-16-2007, 06:51 AM I'm new to the Accords but have had the silver stars in my cavalier in both the headlights and fog lights. The bulbs in the headlights I haven't had to replace and they've been in there over 2 years. The foglight bulbs lasted a year at the most, and sometimes less than a period of the year. When installing try to avoid touching the bulb to avoid the oil from your skin getting on the bulb. brown_kidd 08-17-2007, 04:16 PM ive got PIAA Super Plasma GTX Bulbs, they look pretty nice to me, they give a slight purple-ish tint, thinking about getting a HID kit next:naughty: accordexlv6 08-17-2007, 10:21 PM Have had Silverstars in the Accord (high and low) since 2003... no burn outs yet. Like them very much in combination with white parking lights (moved turn signals to lower bumper valance and added front fender repeaters to compensate) and white foglamps in the bottom grille. Looks and functions great. Put Silverstars in the Pathy and one has burned out since 2003 (they are dual filament bulbs which may account for the failure :dunno: ). The Maxima had the OE bulbs until a few years ago when I replaced them with Siverstars (dual filament, also) and they are still fine. For us, Silverstars have performed well. VTECaddict 08-17-2007, 10:58 PM anyone want some OEM 9006 bulbs? :D phobium 10-17-2007, 12:47 PM Thanks to the tips in this thread, I went with the Ultravision low beams since my OEM drive side bulb finally gave out. I'll tell you right now, I love being skinny. I was able to replace my driver side blinker bulb and my low beam bulb without removing ANYTHING. Thanks again for the tips! fsnoles 10-19-2007, 12:24 PM I went to the Honda (originally just to buy factory bulbs) and they offered me this brand called Halo - they look really good, have a blue tint and came with a 2 year warranty - all for $40. dmac 11-17-2007, 06:45 PM can anyone tell me the type of bulb I need for the front?
