Through Sunday, July 18 at midnight Autogeek has polishers & associated equipment on sale. They RARELY do this, savings are there to be had.

I would look at the packages available on Autogeek and elsewhere. The Griot's Garage polisher is the strongest of the lot in that style with a lifetime warranty. The exception (at twice the cost) is the Flex dual action buffer. Your friend is trying to help but with old & outdated equipment it appears.

Yes, you will need clay, a good buffer/polisher, many foam pads of different types, an aggressive polish,a mild (finishing) polish, and at least a dozen quality microfiber towels. That's the bare basics!! Then you will need a sealant or wax to finish it all off. Plan on $300-$400 for a good starter kit, perhaps less with very diligent shopping.

Thanks for the info on that. The buffer seems to be a cheaper one. It is made by Coleman and it actually looks like a hand sander but bigger. Dont know if this will work. Looks like the pad he gave me is some type of wool pad. (white) If this isnt suffiecient, do you recommend that I buy a kit? I have seen kits that have a Porter Cable polisher with some Wolfgang products.....I have also seen just the Porter Cable by itself then I can use the products you mentioned below. I am serious about this and am the type to want to get what works best. Would you recommend a clay bar too? I doubt it has ever been done on this car. Thanks so much for your help. Tyler

Autogeek has tons of how to videos. I suggest you go to the site and look them over. Machine polishing isn't something one can explain here.

What type of orbital buffer is it that you friend has? There are many, some are excellent, some (Sears for instance) are glorified wax spreaders with no power for paint correction. I will also need to know what pads he has for the buffer, they come in varying abrasiveness.

For machine polish I prefer Menzerna Intensive polish. I also suggest a sealant like Duragloss #105 as opposed to just wax. That sealant will last for months whereas a wax, with some exceptions, will last 3-4 weeks.

BTW: I have read your "hidden jewel" thread and will buy some of that but I understand that this product alone will not solve my above mentioned problems.
