I used a 5/8" wide body moulding around the grille. The moulding is pretty thin, so it doesn't eat into the opening too much. My grille ended up being cut so perfectly that it stays on with a friction fit. I can post more pictures if you want.

the vertical bars were coverd with door edge guard.

Bexause the molding is only 5/8", I needed to use two rows of the molding: the first row went in between the vertical bars. The second row was one continuous piece, from side to side, in front of the vertical bars. This is the row that the grille fits into.

Both are "StyleGuard" products.

The body molding measured 5/8" wide, and had a very low/slim profile.
