    Rick,

Maybe it's just me, but performance of this site is horribleon my laptop running the newly released "Creators Build" for Win 10Pro with Internet Explorer 11. Pages are extremely slow to load, with frequent "driveaccord.net not responding" messages, and outright crashes. Just not usable. I think servers pushing adverts to the site may be what's slowing down performance...

The site works ok on my desktop running Win 7Pro and IE11. Both are connected to the same ISP account, but only one PC is used at a time, so it's not a bandwidth issue, and I have 25 Mbps FiOS service in No-CAL.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks - Ron

I saw you quoted me in a closed and deleted thread.

Anything I should know? Did I cause the thread to be closed? :p

Thank you, I appreciate the time you took to write your message. I don't speed, maybe 4-5 over the limit to keep up with traffic. The 150 mph event was once in a lifetime thing, I was driving through no man's land in Montana with hundreds of miles of nothing in every direction. I could see for miles front and back, straight line road with no curves or hills, no trees or visual obstacles. I turned the radio off, GPS off, 100% focus on the road, bright, dry sunny summer day, both hands on the wheel and went for it. Once the car cut off at 150, I just let off the gas pedal and let it cruise back down to 75 on it's own. The whole thing lasted maybe 2 minutes. It was just one of those things that I would have regretted not trying given where I was and the car I was driving. I frown and get upset at reckless drivers every day, I can't stand the way people drive noways. I fully support everything you said in red on original post and here as well. Have a great day.

    Hi
I was talking in past tense about speeding through Montana and I even said that it's not right so I am not sure why delete the part of the post. If I violated some forum rule I apologize but I didn't realize it.

Unfortunately, ricing out Civics is everywhere, and in too much force. Those ones are a different mentality (demented and damaged) and they don't listen to reason.

What upsets me about it is those are the bad apples ruining the image of Honda and other imports and sport compacts.

Here and there you encounter the rare Civic owner that does a nice build, not ricey, not obnoxious, and actually performs and functions.

Anywho, I'm happy to share what I know and am always open to discussion and answering questions.

Even one of my old buddies and his late brother (god rest his soul) used to do a lot of track racing.

And one of the things they did together with their dad was tuning & racing Vipers, yeah, V10's, and that's where it gets serious in needing a large exhaust pipe for a track car, 500+ cubic inches and 10 cylinders on race fuel with forced induction.

Maybe some rare drag Civic running enough boost and ethanol to blow the motor in a single pass might benefit from 4" pipe, but being real, even the guys running straight headers out the hoods of huge turbo Civics for drag are still not even using 4" pipe, there is literally no need on any Honda for 4" exhaust.

That also includes your Nissan buddies, I have Nissan buddies here too running KA24's and SR20DET's with track builds, and autocross builds, and still, these guys that run shops and know their stuff and succeed in races still don't use anything bigger than 3" piping.

So, with that in mind, why does some normally aspirated Civic running pump gas with stock bottom end need anything bigger than 2.5"?

The answer is "NO", no Civic is ever going to need a 4" pipe, not a daily driver, not even 99% of track only Civics either. They wanna argue, put it on the dyno before and after, try the stock pipe, try a 2.5", then a 3.0", 3.25", 3.5", 3.75", and finally a 4.0".

Then they could see the progressive loss of torque, making their car slower as the pipe gets too big.

My old Starion mechanic (whom used to be with Team Mitsubishi for many years, racing and wrenching StarQuests) had track only Starions and Conquests. He built some crazy engines for those, and still didn't use anything bigger than 3" pipe. Those were engines that start as a 2,555 CC (2.6liter) and ended up sometimes in excess of 2.8 liter (.160" over bore, and offset grind the crank, yeah, ends up huge).

Those were track cars with huge hybrid turbos running anywhere between 24-32psi of boost. Yet still, most did fine 2.5" pipe, sometimes it was needed to step it up to 2.75", and few needed 3".

Yeah, we have way too many of the same kind of chucklenuts idiots out here too.

4" on a Civic? is beyond ridiculous, even with a T88 turbo running 30psi doesn't need it, especially on a 4 banger which can't utilize such a beast of a turbo and still be daily driven.

Heck, most 4cylinders can't even spool a turbo that's big enough to warrant anything bigger than 3" pipe.
