Back then GM used plastic covered teeth over a cast hub and over time the plastic got brittle and broke up , jumping a tooth or two ....

You do realize what your describing is a lose of power , the CVT is able (if programed correctly) to keep rpm at best TQ/HP for the speed and not lose and gain like a conventional geared transmission...

I never thought of catch cans as a fix, it more a bandaid IMO .

They could make something that drains back and fluid but its the gases that are the issue here .
