things that MAY become a pattern...

Honda is studying these issues reported by a few so far.....

Right now ALL are at the point that the techs are to report them when they come accross it.

1. 03-05 Accord 6 MT, leak at clutch housing
2. 00-05 S2000 rear axle creak or grunt

They want a Rep to come & see it:

1. 04 Accord, 04 Civic, 04 Pilot & 04 Element: oil pump or spool valve leak.

2. 04-05 Ody, 04-05 Accord (V6 & L4), 04-05 Civic, 04-05 Element, 03-05 Pilot: Low/No Alternator condition

3. 05 Ody, Engine block oil leak, not a gasket or seal.

4. 04-05 Pilot & 05 Ody, front wheel vibration VIN must begin with 5FNYF.

5. 04 Accord body paint cracking, VIN must begin 1HG

6. 05 Ody & 05 Pilot factory flaws in paint VIN must begin with 5FNYD.

7. 04-05 Civic bumper paint defects VIN 1HG or 2HG.

8. 03-05 Accord rear window regulator noise.

9. 05 Accord sedan front door noise, passenger side. 1HG

10. 04 Civic (2 door) rear tray rattle 1HG

11. 03-04 Civic brake pedal, booster master cylinder noise. 2HG

12. 04-05 Pilot rear damper noise VIN 2HKYF1.......4H536796 or higher.

13. 04-05 Pilot & 03-04 Civic inoperable horn.

14. 03-05 Pilot 2nd & 3rd row grab rail light stick.

I am not giving this list to give anyone something to whine about.... I'm giving it to show that the Honda Corp. takes our complaints seriously! When some have had problems & the dealer properly reports it..... they take it to the next level to see if there's a pattern. If there is, they do an update or recall. I'm trying to show how this works. So now we can see if any of these things do turn into the next level. Help me watch for them..... if you hear about a bulletin before I do, let me know. We can see how long it takes to reach that level...together. 'K?

I noticed that none of these issues are safety or drivability things! I think that's cool!

I wanted to share what their process is on things they hear about. This is before what you might call a "memo". It's the earilest stage of it. Some will likely move to the next, but maybe not all. Honda gets concerned when .04% aren't up to par! Most companies wait till nearly 7%.

It's important that the dealer gets notified & they report it on!

Happy Holidays, Y'all!!

Glad to hear that they're taking the Ody paint problems to heart. That's a very very common problems among the Odyclub members - lots of overspray and paint defect problems.

I wonder if that's somehow regional.... I don't think a single one has come back in here for that. I've never been to the Ody forum..... next time you're there, see if you find a pattern with area. Like maybe the paint isn't cured enough to hold up the really cold Winter temps they have elsewhere.... or something like that....

Unfortunately so much depends on how it gets reported! If the dealer doesn't do their job correctly......

I wonder if anyone from Honda Corp checks this board? If I worked there - I would.

Well worth the "sticky" status. Thanks Princess for allowing us an insight into the inner realm of Honda service.

Do you know what the progression is from this watch status? ie... Memo to dealers, Honda service news update, TSB status, Product upgrade, Recall?????

It's this attention to detail that originally attracted me to be a Honda investor back in the late 70's. My first Accord had head gasket problems and we received a letter from Honda about a week before it blew. When it went, I immediately checked the compression and two adjacent cylinders were low which confirmed the problem. They won me over with their forewarning and willingness to fix their weaknesses in their designs.

I agree with an earlier statement about Honda having some interaction with their customers thru internet sites. Subaru has an official rep that interacts on Edmunds townhall, who gives heads up about problems and follows up to ongoing issues which their dealers seem to have problems resolving. It really is an asset to their customers and a feather in the hat for Subaru. I'd be comfortable with their excellent products also, and indeed am interested in some of them.

Thanks again Princess and Happy Holidays to all.

This is what I'm trying to figure out....

This is the earliest stage I've got info at. They send these to the dealers, but few bother reading them. Thursday I hung out at work with my prince & he handed it to me figuring you all might be interested. So now we'll see which things & when they go on to another stage.....

Mitsubishi is said to have people surfing the internet boards all day searching for Lancer Evo owners who race their cars. Then, with the evidence that these cars were raced, they void the warranty for those particular owners. Aren't car companies just great?
