Will I lose mpg with a...?

Will I lose mpg if I install a CAI or SRI on my i4?. What's the best type to get for an i4?.

Whether the CAI or SRI will physically make you lose MPG is debatable, one fact is that you will lose MPG because of your foot. You'll undoubtedly push it for a while because You'll love the sound.

I may go back to my stock intake just to see if I do get a difference in MPG.

I put an open filter on like a SRI and it increased my MPG 1-2 at least. And that's with gunning it every once in awhile to hear the engine. I calculate it by dividing miles driven by the gallons I put in every time I get gas real quick with my phone calculator. A couple fill ups later it's been solidly better mpg than what I was used to. Put my tire pressure from 32 to 34 psi and even that helped a bit.

Also, I know this was answered in your last post, but CAI has the possibility of water intake, even with a bypass valve (but could get a hydro shield). CAI will help with initial acceleration, but if your main concern is mpg, then warm air increases gas mileage. Google it

your going to lose MPG for the first few weeks cuz your going to get on the throttle a lot more to hear that baby. After that it should be more or less the same.

An ellipsis could very well impact your mileage.

I've talked to a guy that worked at a performance shop that did dyno runs on different cars. Basically if you are getting a SRI its not worth it because the gains are not noticeable compared to stock air box, but CAI is a different story. Just dont get hydrolocked

CAI actually give you a bit less low end torque. If you're pushing the limits at 130 with out governors, the CAI is ideal. I like that off-the-line torque from a SRI personally.

I have a V2 CAI on my coupe 6-6 with a sock over the filter(it's the northwest) and yes I have actually accomplished the highway rated 31mpg of the v6 6speed and I was amazed. I could probably get to 32mpg. I was amazed cause 65-70 is pushing it for optimum mpg and also I thought the rating have always been bogus. Not true even with a CAI.

The 7th gen has a real CAI from Takeda actually. They only make SRI for the 8th gen.
