exLED Kit Installed - With Pics And Installation Tips
Well I just finished installing the exLED Honda Accord Coupe 9th Gen Kit and thought I would give a quick review and some installation tips. Mine did not come with installation instructions.
I ordered them with the 5K White Light Color LEDs and the color is perfect, a clear white no blue. I'm not a big fan of the blue, white colored LEDs. The Map and Dome lights are VERY BRIGHT. They have adjustable brightness and I currently have them on about 85% and to be honest I'll probably have to turn them down more. Guys these things have light output like 40 watt light bulbs. They easily have about 4 times the light output of the original bulbs. The Map lights install very easily. Just use a flat screw driver to pry the cover facing the rear seat to pop loose the first hinge. After the first hinge is loose the opposite hinge pulls loose pretty easily. The Dome Light cover has a small slot that you can pry from with a small flat head screw driver. The dongle connector from LED plate is a little awkward fitting into the bulb holder because of the metal clamps. You may have to pry open them a little, just make sure the switch is off if you use a metal screw driver as they are connected to the bulb contacts. I used a couple of small pieces of tape to hold the LED plate in place then popped the cover back on. Mine fit a little snug. The vanity, trunk, and license plate LED's are not as bright but still are about double the light output of the stock light bulbs. The 5K really looks good. The vanity LED's are easy to install. You can use a small flat head screw driver to find a bottom clip to press in and pry out. Just remember the vanity LEDs will only work plugged in one way. You can check them easily with the mirror cover opened. The trunk light can be removed by pressing in on the passenger side and pulling down. This connection is similar to the Dome light in that you may have to slightly pry open the bulb holder to get the connector to fit into the slot. The license plate bulbs can be removed finding a raise ridge on the cover and pushing it toward the passenger side to release and pull down. You can unplug the bulb holder and pop open the back. At this point I did have to modify these bulbs. I had to cut off between the last and next set of holes. Otherwise the connector back would not pop on. I just used a pair of dikes and it was very easy to do. See first pic. I'm very happy and think they are well worth the price. (got them with a black Friday discount) They are incredibly bright. Had to modify the license plate LED's The next pictures were taken with all lights off in garage at night with LED's at about 85%. |

Wow those are bright. I was looking to order these tomorrow. Might just drive there though so I don't have to wait for shipping.
How much did it cost on black friday? I know they have 20% off right now for the holidays. |

Looks great James. Doesn't look like you got the door lights? Think they might be worth the extra $29? Also, anyone know anything about the SMD Clip Lenses; what function do they serve?

Yes. Altough the plug would keep the LED plate from falling on the seat. I could have missed something though.

I have been under the weather since Dec 26th and did not have the energy or motivation to install my kit...But, I will later today.
I have the clear lens installed on one map light (See Picture) and will compare to determine if I like them or not,,,I will provide pics for evaluation by tomorrow if not sooner, I have the door lights...My kit is also 5K. james_571-->Good write up & tip on license LED mod--> |

I'm ready to order the kit for my Sport along with the bulb Glen is using in the strip marker. What I'm not sure of is the SMD Clip Lens. Will it make a difference in the map light worthy enough to spend the extra money on them?

don't bother with the clip lens.....it focuses the light in a narrower beam and you don't need that. Somewhere here someone wrote he did not like this kit because of the way the lights looked in the lens. Not dissing this install. I have ordered a ton from exled and like them. This kit is solid.
But understand there are 100 ways to do this and get bright white light. Ordering T10 168/194 simple bulbs get the job done - the ones that plug in. You can order a 10 pack on amazon of strong LED's from AGT and they work great. - all for 10 bucks or so. And then the short one I ref above from exled for the map lights....

These are more expensive than whats available on the net, I paid for 5K (WHITE) and adjustable, in the big scope of things, not that much money compared to the cost of the car-->
