Most car wash don't but some do have detailing. With that being said find good detailing shop. Ask your family, friends and etc etc.

mayhemsport2, the results look well worth the effort. Outstanding! I see that you put the Blackfire Total Polish and Seal on with the Lake Country white pad. Did you use the white pad for the Blackfire Crystal Seal Paint Sealant as well or did you use something else like the gray pad?
glen e, I know you're a fan of the Griot's Garage 6 inch Random Orbital Polisher. They are having a SMOKING deal right now. For $129.99 you get the 6 inch Random Orbital Polisher and 5 Lake Country pads (3 white, 2 blue). Should I pick up any other pads? I will hopefully be picking up my Accord Sport this weekend (either in Modern Steel Metallic or Hematite) and I want to do this process ASAP. I also want to get my wife's Suburban looking good however it has some light oxidation and swirls. Should I also pick up some yellow or orange pads? Lastly, that's a big behemoth to clay. Is there any other process/product that I can use to get the paint surface looking good before sealing it? Thanks for all the great tips guys! Craig |

yes - the orange is for big swirls and the grey is for minor swirls...other than that you're good to go!
the clay process will go quick - get the griots clay too - it is "fine" and will not mar...I like it... look up each product at http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ and see how it is used... no, you don't use a pad for crystal seal.... call Todd at the autopia # and ask him about the suburban swirls....probably will use menzerna FG400 or Meguires Ultimate Compound...instead of the softer BF TPnS for a new car...

glen e & mayhemsport2 -
I took the plunge today and just placed an order with AutoGeek.net for $252 worth of supplies to BlackFire my new Accord Sport in Modern Steel Metallic. I picked up the Griots Garage 6 inch Random Orbital Polisher, some extra pads, some micro fiber towels, and all 3 BlackFire products (Total Polish & Seal, Wet Diamond Paint Protector, and Chrystal Seal Paint Sealant). All with free Ground shipping. The finish on this car is already unbelievably beautiful. I have a friend with a brand new 2013 BMW 650i in Space Gray Metallic and while I'm not comparing cars I WILL say that the Modern Steel Metallic finish on the Accord is as good or better looking than the BMW. Hopefully the weather will hold out this week and I can get this done. Thanks for the input and guidance.

Best move you could have made IMHO. Gotta figure its kind of a bunch of money but now youll have a top notch orbital for a while, not like its a one time use and trust me you dont use a lot of product to get optimal results, its sick. So the products will last you a while as well. Get in contact with Glen, he walked me through everything and it was the best advice I could have gotten. Any other mod will not be worth what this will be worth in the long run. A day after I did this it snowed than rained then snowed again. Although the car is a little dirty from road salt and other garbage, the gloss shine is still so visible. So a nice car wash will bring the shine right back out. So much better than wax that you lose after 2 weeks of applying it. Trust me take your time with it and do it right and you wont regret it at all. Good luck and congrats! Make sure you post pics of the results when you finish up! |

Many years ago I lived in Philadelphia... 1989-95. I had recently purchased a new Nissan Altima. The winter was coming so I popped for the additional underbody sealant and put several good coats of wax on the car.
I lived in an area without garages and had to park on the street. I don't know if they still cinder AND salt the roads up there nowadays but somehow the black cinders ended up on my hood and roof. The next day it warmed up and the snow began to melt and large slabs slid off the freshly waxed hood and roof... dragging the cinders with them. Hundreds of fine scratches in my clearcoat and the car was barely a month old!! |

so this is a reason not to seal your car?
I'm confused......

Of course not...
Just saying that sometimes no matter how much you think about it and prepare for it, at times it will come at you sideways! ![]() But, it did make me wonder if the wax wasn't so fresh, would that slab of frozen slush slid off or just melted in place. Never know. But, it's never stopped me from taking care of my vehicles as best I could. |

Don't know about cinder but definitely salt...so far so good with melting snow sliding off the car...

I f you really had a cinder problem - there is a PERMANENT coating that will stand up to them. You just wipe it on, but has to be polished off. It's tough.

glen e -
I sent you a PM. I ordered the products on Monday but did not receive tracking info. Hopefully if it didn't ship on Monday it will ship tomorrow. That should still be enough time for it to make it to GA from FL. Thanks.
