I'm probably going to be the only one to say this but here goes nothing....

I wouldn't let Best Buy hack apart good wiring just for remote start.

Dumb question, but why are they charging you for a tilt switch for hood it's pre-wired?

And why not get a two-way alarm/rs?

Yeah get a good shop. I've seen some of the jobs that Best Buy has done. While they do work, give it time. Years down the road and a few electrical gremlins...

Get a good shop that will solder and use heat shrink.

They wired a friend's car with a Viper system. He got the one with remote start and the car would turn on for 3 seconds and then shut off. He also went through a lot of hassle to get them to fix it.

I would go elsewhere, unless you're positive your local BB doesn't have crappy techs.

Best buy where I live doesn't even do installs anymore or sell car audio. Stay away from best buy or future shop.

Yeah, I'd look for a custom alarm/stereo shop that has nice cars sitting out front (preferably luxury cars or high-end sports cars). I'd ask them how they connect wires, too (yes, solder + shrink is the way, but let them tell you, don't feed them your preference).

I got a basic viper system (plus shock & tilt sensors) installed at my local Best Buy on my Integra.

They didn't hack anything, they did a decent job tucking it away, and everything works great. Really think it depends on the Best Buy. I went back and talked to the guys in the back before I ordered stuff and he was cool and knowledgeable so I felt comfortable having him do it.

But, that said, this was all on a 12+ year old car If I were to have a nice (more complicated) system installed I would seek a custom/specialty shop also.
