Actually, if you go through the site (dipyourcar.com), there's a video which answers that regular clear coat question. The guy in the video says you can but peeling it off later is a royal pain in the neck. Go through the site and familiarize yourself with what they have to offer. As for the gloss look, the glossifier is designed to do that for the plastidip. Also, the blue on the S4 isn't Blaze blue. Its a custom color they mixed up.

I've plasti-dipped my wheels before, and need to for winter, but IDK about a GTR. I mean, come on, those things are gorgeous to begin with. Seeing that video made me cringe.

I've worked with Plasti dip for a few years now and I have not had a single problem with spraying the plasti dip from a can or from the wagner double duty spray gun. I've dipped interior trim pieces, wheels, entire cars, and if you do not like the outcome of the dipping, you can simply peel it back and the clear coat or whatever finish it was, is back to its original condition with no imperfections or problems.

have you considered wrapping your car?

http://community.ashworthcollege.edu...1520/bmw12.jpg

Seems safer and literally freezes your paint in time! Because once you remove the wrap after several years the paint remains just as it was when the wrap was installed.
It lasts longer.

I just watched that 28 min video from DYC - looks pretty fun actually haha I honestly don't think it would ruin your OEM paint/clear though... there's always a slight chance that anything could happen...but I don't think he'd be dipping a S4 if that chance was big

Peeling the dip with the clear coat is really a SUPER b****! I got a nail in my right front tire, and so i had to get it fixed. Well, they told me it was gonna scratch the dip but i had to do it, so i said it was fine. I tried peeling it after. Took me a solid 30 minutes to peel off about 80% of it. It came off in little tiny pieces. It's still not done. I plan to take alcohol too it and redo it once the wind dies down. As for just peeling regular dip. SO EASY. Make sure it's layered thick enough though. The thinner it ends up being the harder it is to peel, so lots of coats. My rims had 8 coats, but really light coats and it was hard to peel because it was so thin.

The regular automotive clear is what makes it a pain to peel. I said that a few posts up. The glossifier is designed for plastidip.
