Big Maintenance day tomorrow

So since I bought my car at an odd mileage, I made sure the big things were done before I drove off. Well two years and 45,000 miles later, Its time for some work on my 2005 LX I4 with 143000 miles.

Tomorrows plan

Serpentine (starting to get a squeak. Doesn't look too bad, but I hate the sound and It would be good to do it now.

Plugs I have a question here a shop has NGK IZFR6K11 but the FAQ suggests NGK 1ZFR6K13. Can I use what the shop has?

Trains. Drain and fill will most likely do the 3x3. ATF-Z1 unless there is another fluid which would work?

And coolant. 7.1 qts. I have some now as it has gone down a small amount since purchase. But just to be clear, when I bought the first one the guy asked me what color. What color should it be?

Lastly, if there is money left over, the red top cell battery, the old one is weak when it gets to 15 degrees or lower here.

Insight and recommendations are welcomed. I did the searches and looked at DIY. I am having a friend help as I don't have tools or a garage. But he is more than capable. So just notes from experiences or fluid recommendations are welcomed.

Thanks

Serpentine -- if you can get a gatorback, very good belts IMO
Plugs - I looked up on NGK website and it lists IZFR6K11. Perhaps a newer part number replaced the old one.
Trans - good
Battery - By red top you mean Optima? Have never had one but others on here have said that their most recent incarnations are not too great. Perhaps look for something like an Interstate or some AGM style.

The new OEM Honda ATF fluid is the DW-1 - the Z1 is the old stuff.

Where do you live? That might be the reason about the coolant color.

What about changing your tranny filter. And cabin filter.

These are all oddball jobs that you can do yourself as a weekend job. Very easy engine to work on, lights of room to really get your hands dirty. This same engine in a a smaller engine bay (i.e. cr-v) it's hell.

Just make sure you flush your brakes while you're there, lubricate your brakes, and change all filters.

Make sure you do the work and have your friend show you. Hands on experience is better than standing there watching.

Proper Honda coolant color is blue, you can only buy this from Honda dealership or other places supplying genuine Honda parts/supplies. DO NOT buy other brands as you risk undesirable chemical reactions.

Big Maintenance day tomorrow

All good points

The coolant should be flushed. Honda coolant is blue and most people recommend the oem fluid. They do make some aftermarket fluid that says compatible with Japanese vehicles I personally would use the honda brand.
The new trans fluid is dw1 it supersedes the z1 like the previous poster mentioned.
Brake fluid should be changed and flushed every 3 years no mileage restrictions.

I have asked at two Honda dealerships were I get parts, why did my 2006 EX-L i4 come from the factory with the NGKIZFR6K13? They both have said the 13's are for California cars and the 11's are for everybody else. You can use both.

I would not flush the coolant. Drain and fill, like the service manual says. If the coolant in the engine is really bad, or if it's the wrong type, buy another gallon of coolant, and flush it with that.
