Need sealer recomendation for new headlights

Can someone please tell me if there is a product that will protect the clear plastic on new headlights and prevent discoloring over time?

if you want cheap and good, believe it or not, put on two coats of NU-FINISH sold at your walgreens or grocery store...works great...
but nothing long term will weather proof it...this will just reduce it...

the premium better way to do is the blackfire method talked about in other posts here....

or look at clear film from lamin-x.com

Xpel www.xpel.com also makes pre-cut headlight cover film kits, it's thick and will not only help reduce UV yellowing, it will also protect the headlight lens from most road debris/abrasion and impacts.

Zaino Clear Seal will protect from uv rays. I used it for 5 1/2 years on my S2000 and the headlight covers still looked new.

FYI the headlight film cover kits do NOT work on headlights with the little dimple on them (like the 7th gens). Lamin-x told me themselves not to use it since the dimple will make it almost impossible to install without bubbles. They said I could possibly cut a hole in the film where the dimple is but that doesn't sound like a very good solution to me.

I ended up sealing them with Opti-coat 2.0 and it has worked will for over a year and a half.

Dimple? Do you mean the hunk of plastic sticking out? I had my headlights covered 5 years ago by the company who did Clear Bra on the front end, I don't think they custom cut the film, it looked like they had a pattern in their database and had a cutout to go around the protrusion.

My car is 7 years old now and zero yellowing of the headlights.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. Here is what Lamin-x emailed me when I asked about installing the film on my Accord with the dimple.

"Good morning and thank you for your email. Our kit that we offer for the Honda Accord is not designed to cover the headlight with the protruding turn signal reflector. Honda only used that headlight on a few "sport" models. The only thing that you could do is to install the kit that we offer and cut around the outside edge of the reflector to allow the film to lay down. If you have any more questions please let us know. Thank you."

What is a "protruding turn signal reflector"??? The only protrusion is the bulge in the clear lensess near the high beam reflector bowl. Haha got to love "great" customer support

Need sealer recomendation for new headlights

I asked my Honda dealer about yellowing headlight covers because my 10-year-old Accord's headlight covers had gotten very yellow and cloudy. His answer to me about if I needed anti-UV film applied to my new car's headlights: for the last 2 or 3 years Honda has switched to Lexan plastic for the headlight covers ("the same type of plastic used in football helmets") and that yellowing from UV light is no longer a problem. Anybody know if there's any truth to this?

Thanks for the advice, Glen. I think I won't worry about it on my new car but deal with it if/when I need to.

I traded in my 09 coupe that sat in Florida sun 365/yr- no garage- and had perfectly clear headlights - using nothing but the polymer coatings we talk about here...
