You can get the Autocraft batteries from Advance Auto right now for around $65 plus tax. Just purchase online for store pickup and use coupon code trt41 for $40 off.

They're good batteries. Even though the silver batteries have a shorter warranty and a little less CCA they should last longer because they have thicker plates. I purchased this silver group 35 for my I4 back in September and it has been great through this winter so far.

By the way Advance Auto has constantly had good discounts like this for a while. 20 off 50, 40 off 100 being the best ones at 40% off if you purchase near those amounts.
I buy most of my auto supplies from them using these coupons. Check here for up to date coupons. http://www.retailmenot.com/view/advanceautoparts.com

Saving 10 lbs in the nose of a FWD car is a good thing.. which is why they did it in the first place..
that's why BMW goes thru so much trouble to mount the battery in the trunk..

My original OEM battery lasted about 5 years (which isn't too bad), but I wanted to get something with more CCAs since I live in WI.

Between the three you mentioned, I'd go with the Bosch. Consumer Reports ranked it the highest among Group 35 batteries with the Duralast a close third. It also looks like the Duralast is more expensive.

I went with the second ranked battery, which is the EverStart MAXX (Walmart).

Unfortunately, Consumer Reports didn't test Group 51R batteries, so I don't know if those ratings apply with that size battery.

These aren't race cars. I think the higher CCA and faster starting is worth the 10 lbs. Also, it gives you more traction in the winter.

I would never confuse my accord with a race car.. but 10 extra pounds in the wrong place matters.. true that on the extra traction...
Faster starting? The OEM battery supplies what it needs.. can't see the need for more unless you have aftermarket audio equip.. etc..
never noticed a problem even with all the EX-L goodies to power..
I got rid of my V6 in favor of the I4 because of handling preferences and the fact its not a race car as you mentioned.

Get the AutoZone or Advance Auto silver ones, use a coupon (search SlickDeals) and sometimes they have rebates. I got a Duralast Silver for like $60 after coupon and rebate.

I spent an extra ten bucks and got the AutoCraft Gold 51R instead of the silver last summer. It's 500 CCA vs the silver's 410cca. So far so good.

Not all BMW's are rwd. The X-rated ones are awd.

I used to think the same thing but I am ready for my third battery and I am getting the 500 cca battery this time. If I let the car sit in the cold long it barely cranks. For the few extra dollars it seams worth it.

I drive one of the those "ultimate overpriced driving machines" and the weight bias is still towards the front. Honda should put the batteries in the trunk but that might increase the price of an Accord by a couple of hundred of dollars.......Oh dear!!!

No offense taken... no.. u probably can't feel a difference when driven normally..
And I guess most would never notice...
Look at the extremes auto manufacturers go to to keep weight down... especially weight in the wrong places.. it does make a difference.. weight is the enemy.. the weight bias is already bad in these cars.. why add to it?
