What I had done on the first two was just start the car right up. It would reset just the miles.
What I did last time was turn to ACC then let it load. Then to ON for a few seconds. It won't set yet. Then start. It registered the miles and mpg from previous tank and dropped them down.
WOW, great catch,..I'll try this on my next fill up and report back. I really hope this is it.

Awesome. On my last fill up I switched into both key positions for 3 seconds before starting the car and the mileage registered just fine. First time in over 4 fill ups. Seems like if you immediately start without pausing for a few seconds the mileage won't register. I'll wait for the next couple fill ups before I conclude the problem is solved.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I have the Canadian EXL and I'm having a worse time with trip reset.

Trip A is set to reset after refuel like everybody else.

After refuel, start engine right away, trip is reset but history is not updated.

Another refuel, turn to ACC then ON (until it displays trip A), start engine. Same thing, trip is reset but history is still not updated.

If I press and hold the reset rod, it behaves well. Trip reset and history updated.

Note I've only refueled my car twice. Maybe the behavior will change after a couple of times as suggested.

Any thought?

Yeah, it's a bugger and something Honda needs to fix. I make sure the key is out when I refuel. When your done switch to the first position and wait five or ten seconds, then to the next position for 5 or 10 seconds, then start. See if that does it for you and let us know.

This work-around worked for about 4 tanks then on the last one it didn't drop down the history. I went back to manual reset pending an update from Honda.

At least it's not as bad as the radio issues the EX-L guys are having and they are still waiting for an update.

I have mine set to reset at fill-up.

When I filled up the other day it didn't record anything - total miles OR mileage.

My first tank data is saved though - probably because I manually reset it with the button on the gauge cluster.

I've had my car for 3.5 months and it still acts like that. I just do a manual reset after filling up. It's a bug on Honda's part.

We have an EX with the smart key. Once I set the screen to reset on fill up it began omitting the history. I've tried the fixes described above by turning the car on for a minute then hitting start, but no deal. The histories still do not record. The only way I've found to get the histories to hold is to go back to manual reset.

I'm having a problem with the "History of Trip 'A'," as well.

Sometimes it will retain the data for previous trips, but most often it does not, including the mileage.

I've only had the car a week and I'm sure that I'll become more accustomed to using the system, but for now I use "Trip 'B'" to track miles per tank of gas and it resets at refueling.

"Trip 'A'," I use for for every trip and around town, I have it reset at "ignition off." For longer trips, of course, I would use the "manual reset" option.

I talked to the dealer about it today and they wanted me to bring it in tomorrow, but I'm just not ready to have them messing around with this issue for hours or even days.

I want it fixed, but it can wait a few weeks.

It's not broke
See the settings and try "reset with trip reset" - not fill up

Reset with trip button everytime you want a new session, they will drop down to history

It's kinda quirky, dealers don't know this stuff....

If you're talking about a manual reset with the dial on the dash, that resets everything and saves nothing.

That seems like something of a hassle, but it may be a workable plan. I'll try that one, myself.

Thanks.

My 2006 EXL-V6 NAVI's Trip Computer sometimes sporadically resets without intervention (including the "reset with fuel" setting); when my Touring arrives in a couple weeks, I'll set all of this stuff to "manual only," or may try setting the "B" side to "reset with fillup."
