advice on leasing another honda.
hey all, community seems pretty insightful here so i figured i'd try and take advantage
. the lease on my accord coupe is up in a few weeks and i want to lease another one. here's the situation:will be about $1,000 in the hole with miles. my current lease was 3 years/$279 on a 25K msrp 4 cyl. i obviously don't want to pay the mileage fee and since i'm a bit indifferent now-a-days in regards to what car i'm driving, etc. i figure i might as well lease another honda in order to hopefully not have to pay the fees. that being said, i was in college when i took this lease out. i graduated and work now so i wouldn't mind a more upgraded trim - no need for the v6 but would like the navi/tech package. obviously with that comes paying more, which i'm willing to do (wouldn't want it to jump more than $350/mo range, though). so here's my question: what's my best way to go about this? i feel like the dealership eating the miles since i'm leasing another car is more of an end point, rather than a start point (idk? is it?). ideally, i would prefer to not have to put anything (or too much) down to get in the new car. i'm crazy busy at work and don't have time for much coming up (the joy of being an accountant this time of the year) so i'm hoping for simplicity. should i be e-mailing different honda dealerships with my situation, what i want and see if maybe they start competing a bit and take the best offer? any input would be very much appreciated! and i know leasing v financing has its pros and cons - not trying to start an opinion war on that. im moving in 3 years so taking a 36 month lease is ideal so i could be out of any commitments when it comes time to head on. thank you! |

From what I know about leasing, I think either way you will end up paying the excess mileage on the car.
Sorry I can't help too much about the new accords because I got a 2010..the new ones do look sharp though. Sent from AutoGuide.com Free App

You have three options.
1. Buy the car (not what you want) 2. Turn the car in and pay the overage fees. 3. Trade the car in. Trading it in leaves you one of three situations 1. breaking even on your payoff 2. owing more than your payoff (overage added to new lease) and the overage could be more than your mileage overage 3. equity in your payoff (use it to put down on your new lease or keep it) The only way you'll know is to contact a dealer(s) and see what they offer.

a thousand dollars is nothing, they can just wrap it into the lease. Sorry but the only thing you can do is take it to 3 dealers and get the best deal. I think emailing would be a waste of time.

Just because he's over on miles and the fee is $1000 doesn't mean he's automatically $1000 upside down in the car.

regardless, they will have to hammer out a deal, and it can't be done via email. the transaction is too complicated for that.
