depends what you ears prefer.

the morel tempos will have by far the best midbass of the 3 sets and very smooth tweeters.

rainbows have good midbass but not as good as the morels. and the tweeter is on the bright side. if you don't mind then go for it.

for the money you're spending, a pair of hybrid audio imagines would sound awesome with some good power.

I can't offer advice on the sound of these speakers, but I can tell you that from the specs available online that the Rainbows and Morels should fit in the doors - assuming you have a 9th gen. I didn't see specs for the PHD's.

I bought a set of Image Dynamics that were 2.75" mounting depth and would not clear the window when using a .75" spacer without modifying the door trim panel. I ended up swapping them for a set by CDT (that I am very happy with) with a mounting depth of 2.5" (also using the .75" spacer).

You will need to buy or fabricate a spacer regardless of your choice.

For what it's worth, I've heard good things about the Morels and Diamond speakers in general.

I have my Zapco amps on the doors (mentioned in another thread). I have a 350.2 on the fronts (100x2 rms) and a 200.2 on the rears (50x2). I wouldn't run components front and rear though, just in the front. I had them in both and pulled the rear tweets after about six months. Still great drivers and I love the mid bass that I get from the woofers. My setup is passive, btw.

Yea
1. Had the ID before in one of my car i love em but time to move on and upgrade
2. HAT are sharp and clear. No midbadss but they not ****ing with the PHD in my opnion.

ive narrowed it down. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK

1. Diamond audio all around (components, sub stage and amp)
2. PHD in front stage (sub stage and amp FOCAL)

if my money isnt right. Morel components front stage, and sub stage and amp W7 or two 8's

BTW them CDT ARE NICEE !!!! i recommend them to anyone starting off on an audio build upgrade.

Diamond isn't what they use to be. Neither are focal amps.

I'd go with the Phd and either jl, sundown, or ppi for power.

nothing is beating this

For shits and giggles, i did an A/B comparison with the jl hd 600/4

No difference in SQ.

The ppi's are easily one of the best 4 channels on the market right now. And at 189? Absolute steal.

The midbass is even deadlier (in a good way) with 200watts of power. Try it for yourself one day. You will honestly be shocked at how good that 6.5 is with more power.

I know people that run up to 325w passive and it sounds phenomenal. Obviously for those running active the power rating shouldn't be that high.

Of the ones in your first post, Morel. Morel make about the best sounding speakers around. Big big fan of them. Most of the best sounding cars Ive ever listened to at competitions are running Morel drivers. Now they do lack midbass punch. That's a problem with Morel drivers and has been for a while now. Theyre not weak by any means but theyre not as good as say a Focal mid.

Hybrid, don't like em. Havent since the Legatias. Always sounded lifeless. They can be made to sound good but theyre not that great out of the box.

If youre able to listen to all these, that's the best way because what sounds good to you might not sound good to me.

Another option is my all time favorite speaker brand. These Scanspeak components are awesome. Scan are almost always on the short list whenever somebody is compiling a "best speaker brand" list. I use their tweeters in my SQ competition system and theyre just unreal. Theyre not the tweeters that are in this set but these will still be outstanding. If you really want to go all out, get their top of the line set for a mere $800! Best midrange and tweeter on the market!

And yes, you want to get as powerful an amp as you can afford. More power = better sound quality.

Scanspeak makes good stuff

I think the best tweet on the market is the dynaudio 102,.

The thing I love about the Scans is their ability to play very low. These things will handle 2K easily and sound very good doing it. That along with their superb detail makes them perfect for car setups where you can mount them up high and pull your soundstage nice and high.
