It's time to change my pads on my sister's 08 now. Since I haven't been able to find the Hawks yet, I'm going to have to replace them with OEMs this time around. You can follow up on the thread http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=19636

I'll also post if the squeaking goes away after I install them later today.

Took my car back to the dealer today. The dealer called the Honda Tech line to inquire about my issue with brake squeel. Honda tech line told them to resurafce the rotors and change the pads. So far so good. Got new front brakes and no squeels yet even after rain and car wash. Most of my issue occurred before after wet conditions.

So far so good after the rear pad swap. Initially it was squeaking as it was raining but after that it stopped. Yesterday she told me she went through the entire day an no squeak. We'll see long term if that fixed it. I doubt resurfacing the rotors will fix this issue.

I had random brake squealing at low speeds, took my 08 EX-L V6 to my dealer and they said that the brakes were put on "dry", meaning no lubricant. They re-lubed everything and so far no more noise. That might make sense b/c there was one patch where I was going maybe 60km/hr and I had to jam on the brakes hard and the car actually screetched like I had drum brakes, no ABS at all, wonder if that was because they were put on "dry" and may have interfered with proper ABS function?

I'm not sure but I doubt the factory put the pads on dry. I think they just didn't put enough Molykote grease on the back of the shims. My sister's was manufactured in Japan so I can't speak for all of the Accords, but at least for hers I can say they only put to pea sized drops of grease. I have always applied it to the entire shim. Time will tell if this fixes the issue. I remember it took a good 2k miles before the issue first appeared on her car so we have a while before I'm convinced that was it.

so after much procrastination due to work and school
i finally took my car in for a brake check.
they said that the first gen's that came out had some
type of brake coating malfunction and that the outer
edges of the brake pads were being exposed metal to metal
so they kept my car for a good 5 - 6 hours and when i picked
it back up from the dealer they said they recoated the brakes
with some type of rubber, synthetic coating crap or what not.
so far 1 day on the brakes no sounds. will let you know what happens later on

Yeah, the re-lubing didn't do squat for my car. I had a horrendous squeal from about 60km down to zero, like the metal on metal, I fully expected to see sparks flying out as it sounded horrendous and was embarrassing as hell. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced the pads and re... surfaced or grinded or whatever the rotors so hopefully that takes care of it this time...

i got new front pads and resurfaced rotors about 2 weeks ago..No more issues yet even in wet conditions. So far so good! They were never able to duplicate my ridiculous brake noise which came and went usually after or during wet conditions, but changed the pads anyways just to get me out of there faces.

After my 3rd trip to the dealership for that exact issue, they replaced the pads and re-surfaced the rotors, and in the week since (maybe 40 stops) - zero noise. I even turn the radio off when starting to brake to make sure I can hear them, and they are dead quiet now

i dont know if anyone else mentioned this but the 08 accord coupe comes with metallic brake pads. They will squeak on any car as they are metal shaving pieces in the pads themselves. You could always go with aftermarket ceramic break pads or non metallic but then that another talk about which you prefer and what lasts longer and all.... personally i plan on also changing my rotors for cross drilled racing rotors and a great set of break pads. that will come later though....
