Thumbs up DIY: Fog Light installation for 8th Gen Coupe

Hey guys so i installed OEM fog lights today and decided to do a write up for people who wanted to do it themselves. It took me about 3 hours to do it myself mainly because i was taking pictures for the write up and i had no help.

So here is a picture of before

First Remove the negative power cable to the battery

Unclip all the pop clips on top and bottom of the bumpers (there are other DIY with more information on this)

Unscrew the sides

Gently Pull off the bumper on the sides, be real careful to not break the clips

Bumper off, make sure to have blankets or towels on the floor so your bumper wont scratch

Unscrew the 3 screws on the back of the fog light housing (remember to keep these screws because you will use them later to mount the lights)

On the passenger side located the plug being held down with blue tape, remove the blue tape and free the clip.

Here is the plug on the driver side

Here is the harness included with the kit

Plug the brown clips into each other

Included in the package should be zipties with mounting clip on it, zip tie it around the lower green tape

Plug the zip tie mount onto the car frame

Mount the ground cable onto the open hole on the frame with the mounting screw included (do not mount it anywhere else because it wont be grounded correctly)

Zip tie the rest of the cables so they are snug

Repeat on the right

On the driver side mount the ground cable with the other ground cables, there is only one location for it, unscrew it and mount.

Now its time for the fog lights

I am working on the driver side first, grab the fog light and hook it onto the top part of the bumper, you should see a some slit that is made just for the fog lights

Match the holes up and use the previous screws from the original housing to mount the fog lights back onto the bumper

Repeat on the passenger side

Now its time for the switch, this is the part that took some time because i couldnt find the clip. With a long flathead screwdriver you have to pop off the left side of the housing, Once you pop one side off the rest should just come off with a simple push.

After you remove the top half unscrew the 3 screws located on the bottom of the steering column and it should free up the switch for final removal. Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to the left so that you can access the 2 screws holding the light switch.

Remove plug from back of the switch and pull it out to the left

Top is the non fog light switch bottom is the new one.

Plug the new one back in and put everything back together. You might want some help with the bumper when putting it back on so it aligns correctly. And make sure to plug the fog light housing to the harness and blam you are done.

Awesome writeup. To bad the Sedan's that don't have Fogs already don't have that cutout in the bumper.

Marc08, Just FYI I do know that our EX have the wiring as I saw the brown plug there when in stalling my Xenons. It just a pain to cut the holes in the bumper.

Oh really?! Nice!! I might consider doing it then. I just don't like drilling holes to it because I'm afraid of messing up. Plus I already have a clear bra on. Do you plan on doing yours? We can follow this DIY

I don't think I will do this. Taking off the bumper is one thing. Hacking it is another.

Does the presence of clear bra matter? Just curious if you know something I don't. I plan on doing mine at some point.

Wow, excellent writeup. You may have just convinced me to do this. Any way we can see a few night pics when you get a chance?
