Gen 8 Speaker Adapters

Has anyone made plug/play speaker adapters for the 8th Gen cars yet? I'm not looking to do a lot of drilling in the company car...

Thanks

Wow. An Accord for a company car? Nice company. The only company cars I got (when I worked for a top insurance company) were pieces of dog poo on wheels (Dodge Shadow, Chevy Corsica, Chevy Malibu, and Dodge Stratus)!

I don't think any speaker adapters are direct screw in with factory holes. All of them may require drilling in the Accord. As long as you don't interfere with the factory holes, it shouldn't be a problem because no one would know under a door panel. But why waste money on a company car that you don't own?

You do not have to drill. You can purchase the adapters for both the doors and rear deck as they are the same. Scosche model SAHC634. These adapters let you use either 6.5 or 6.75 inch speakers in the factory locations. Just make sure the speakers you choose are not to deep in the doors as to interfere with the window. Most are fine. For the rear deck you have all the depth you need just make sure the magnet clears the opening. Use Google to find and get pricing.

If the sound from the OEM speakers wasn't so bad, I would not consider it. I'm doing a lot of driving up and down the state, and would certainly enjoy better tunes, and not looking to spend a lot of money doing it.

Also, my daughter will be turning 16 when it comes off lease and I hope to pick it up for her.

By the way, small world as I live in Valencia also!

How cool! When I had company cars, we never used the option to buy because the cars were terrible! Driving around a car in the San Fernando Valley in and out of body shops and junk yards really takes a beating. So we gladly gave them up!

However, an Accord would be a nice deal if you have the option to buy once the company lease is up. If you have the LX with the standard audio system, do some research first. I don't know if the standard audio system uses separate crossovers for the front speakers.

I used to work in Valencia, so my drive was very short to work, so I never upgraded the speakers in my Accord. However, I am now working in Acton, with a 30 minute drive, so I added XM and replaced the speakers. JL Audio speakers are very good and they sound great even with the factory head unit. Have you considered an iPod connection kit for your long drives?

If you have the LX life is very easy. There is only an in-line cap for the tweeter in the door sail panel. All six speakers get the full range direct from the HU. You can us any brand speakers you want just use components up front. Per my sig I have JL components in the front and they sound great. I do have an amp but they would probably sound fine without since they are pretty efficient. I do not have to turn my HU up much to get decent volume. YMMV.

I had a Crutchfield package at home, and started working on this project, but ended up sending it back for a couple of reasons - no one on the forum gave the Sony speakers good reviews, the Sony speakers did not fit in the adapters as the speednuts were too big, the adapters required drilling to fit the car. The only thing that did work was the wiring harness.

So, I'm going to piece this together myself using:
Scosche model SAHC634 adapters as recommended above
6.5" 2 way speakers - LOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS - aprox $50.00/pr
Wiring harness adapters - where is the best place to purchase?

Thanks in advance!

You can get both the speaker adapter, same as civic - http://www.electotronics.com/scosche...ondacivic.aspx and speaker harness - METRA 727800 Honda Universal Speaker Harness - http://www.electotronics.com/metra72...erharness.aspx. The cost for both is $12.31 before shipping and any tax.

Finding a decent set of components for $50. You are on your own for that.
You could look at these Infinities - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ce+6020cs.html
but they are twice what you want to pay.

Don't meant to thread jack, but what's the depth of the stock speakers?

Funfactor...appreciate your input concerning upgrading an LX. Despite what crutchfield says .... the JL 650 will fit with adapterplate in 2009 LX? And could you tell me what's involved with replacing the tweeters Difficult?

Yes, the JL fits with the adapter plate I referenced. However, the tweeter is smaller then the OEM one so they had to mod my sail panel to mount it. I do not do this type DIY anymore. It is better to pay someone else then if you get a buzz or rattle it is their problem not yours. I only do bolt and replace type stuff and easy adds anymore. The rest I leave to people more competent then myself as long as they understand what I want and will do the job to my specs I am willing to pay a fair price.

The stock speaker is about 2.5 inches deep but it is strange because the speaker is built into the adapter. You have roughly 1 inch below the "adapter".

Thanks - that's a great price as Best Buy advertises the adapter for $19.99 by itself. Do these adapters have the "hooks" as the OEM speakers, or do they require some drilling/screws to hold them in?

I may have mis-spoke - I'm just looking for 2way speakers, not components.

Thanks again,

Stan

Woah! Take it easy on the Dodge Stratus! lol I had a baby blue 2001 with a salvage title that I bought for a song. It had 80k on it and I drove that car up until 170k with nothing but regular maintenance! The only thing I had to replace other than regular stuff like brakes and tires was (2) tie rod ends and 1 wheel barring! It was awfully slow, but had a nice ride, decent gas mileage and was very good to me! lol

Would those JL's work with the stock HU?

What about these speakers?
Pioneer TS-A633P
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...eries/TS-A633P

They seem to fit my budget - will they fit in the doors and back deck under the OEM covers?
