Headlight Reflector Removal?
I was talking to a guy at my shop and we were discussing ways to remove the orange reflector on the sides of the headlights. Apparently the best way is to heat the casing, heating up the glue, and carefully peel away the reflector piece. However, he also said there is a 50% chance that the casing will crack..
Has anyone successfully removed the reflector? What other methods are there for removing it? Any stories / suggestions would be awesome!

I think the piece is attached to the actual housing, not glued. You can try taking the headlights apart, then tinting it. Or just tint the outside of the headlights, where the amber is.

The peice can be taken off without heating anything if you take the headlight apart

I think there's a couple of DIY with people, and many videos on youtube.com about how to go about it. Something about sticking the headlight in an oven for 250F..LOL!! It works though, but ask a pro..there's many on DA.net.

I tinted mine but yes they do snap out but the little prongs can brake as it's brittle reflector plastic so be careful and take your time. I was thinking someone could take them out and make their own mold to create clear lenses....that would be cool. I would buy them if anyone got ambitious...hint hint.

Hmmm, tempting but I only have one spare headlight that has the amber lense (I used the other one from my other spare light becuase I broke it on my installed lense the last time I was working on it). I'm tempted to buy another used headlight just to have another part to play with.
