Aftermarket fog light installation problem
I gotta confess first...
My friend has a civic and he kept telling me how great these ebay aftermarket fog light kits are, so I just did some searches on ebay and bought a kit, thinking that the harness and wiring and everything would just like the OEM ones. Now, obviously everybody here knows that they're very different... ![]() Talking to the seller didn't help at all - I even had to tell him/her how different the kit is from the OEM ones. I really regret buying this kit now but I don't wanna return it either because that'd mean I'll be losing $30 of shipping and like $10 of restocking. Before I go ahead and just buy OEM harness, I just want to make sure if it's absolutely impossible to just use this kit by itself. Hopefully you guys would be able to answer my questions. 1.) I removed the dashboard cover and didn't see any free connectors for my switch harness, did I miss something? 2.) Why do I have a ground on the switch harness as well? 3.) Where in the world would I get power with these harness?! 4.) Finally...would these harnesses work...? ![]() Thanks so much guys... Oh and totally forgot... if anyone would tell me where in the world I can connect the brown and the gray connector on the switch harness, that'd be great. If the seller refuses to take them back and offer a refund, then re-sell them on eBay and try to recover most of your money. If you buy the OEM fogs, the instructions are easy and they are pretty much plug and play into the existing wiring.
Or see if you can buy the OEM wiring harness for the fogs. Low-cost aftermarket items don't necessarily mean they are easier. I had an interesting adventure with aftermarket LED tail lights...will never do aftermarket accessory upgrades ever again.

i had originally bought ebay, then returned them. i know people have wired the ebay fogs, but the number is very low.
on a side note, i found out that the ebay fog housing does not fit in the OEM black assembly thing

like most of the ebay sellers, i'll need to send them back at my own expense, while the original shipping wont be part of the refund. and yes i've read tons of installation instructions on the OEM ones and it was the ease of installation that made me buy a kit. (cuz i was dreaming that OEM installation would apply... )Yeah buying the OEM wiring would probably be my last resort, if I can make sure my harness absolutely do not work at all. I have this doubt because there are some success stories on the aftermarket ones, also the seller has received over 10 positive comments on the same kit already. tho i think the latter isnt too reliable because i bet most ppl would just leave a positive comment right upon receival of the kit. btw, i clicked into your eagle-eye fog light adventures LOL man looks like something i wouldnt even think about doing! |

i'm really noob in car mods, so i know what you're saying but i have no idea how i should do it but dont worry i'll ask my friend, he should know. or i'll probably PM u, hope you dont mind... ![]() so basically, cut the heads on both of the wires, correct? and so the one that goes to 12V would be the one drawing power? (is it the one that goes into the fuse panel in the pic?^^") btw i like ur grille on ur 09 accord. |

Hey guys, I've been looking at all these Ebay fogs threads regarding the crappy harnesses that come with them, because I want some fogs for my Accord coupe, but dont want to pay hundreds for OEM.
![]() WHAT IF I were able to get w/ the manufacturers of the fogs and have a oem style harness replicated for them? [I have no affiliation w/ either the ebay sellers or the manufacturers, but I do have some experience with International trade.] Recognizing it wouldnt be exactly the same, but if we could get a REAL plug and play, that would be pretty awesome. You think it might be worth my time? |
