Honda Accord 1989 – AC Instrument Panel
Help !!! I have a 1989 Honda Accord LXi. All of the sudden it looks like none of the buttons on the AC instrument cluster works. The manual temperature slide seems to work as well as the fan speed switch but whenever I press one of the buttons besides not getting the visual indication it has been pressed it doesn’t seem to do any good.
I can’t direct the air to the floor, defroster, etc. All it does is come out of the vents. Could there be a fuse or something somewhere (I checked the fuse box under the hood and they were OK) I don’t know about? On a side note .. the rear window defroster also doesn’t work .. same thing .. no visual indication (light) when I press it. I mention this separately since it is not part of the AC instrument cluster but is right beside it and seems to have stopped working about the same time. Anyone have any thoughts .. hints .. directions how to proceed? Any and all help/opinions will be greatly appreciated. Bill |

Sounds like the button panel is no longer working, since your rear defrost doesn't go on either. Shouldn't be hard to replace that part. If the button panel was working, but air flow not changing, then it would be the motor or air flow door not operating.

Not sure what exactly what you are saying. Yes .. the button panel doesn’t seem to be working but I don’t understand what (except something like a fuse) could cause the who panel not to work all of a sudden. I also don’t understand why the fact the rear window defroster which is located in a set of buttons to the left of the AC instrument panel would be effected?
Pretend I am completely ignorant (which isn’t that much of a stretch) … would you mind explaining more? |
