Psy - sorry to hear that the car came back as you feared - and the story has played out to your anticipated conclusion. But I gotta say - from what you describe, it sounds like a bunch of chiimps got into a garage bay and tried to fix your car. And while I haven't had damage to the level you did in this car, I have had recent work done that included a lot of after-tear-down incremental repairs while in the shop- and if you get the right set of guys, they'll make it as if the car was never in an accident. In your case, while it might not have been perfect afterwards, there's no excuse for the laundry list you currently have. Not sure if you had other repair options or not - but I'd sure be looking elsewhere...

You can't bring the car to a different shop? It has to be those guys that can't do anything right??

I bet I have used atleast six diff. body shops through the years. All seem to produce the same quality of work. With two diff. ins. co's. Thats why wrecking cars upsets me so much. The cars are never right again. No matter what.

When the wife ruins a car she ruins them for good. Take the 92 Olds Delta 88. Brand new car. Only a few months old when she took the whole front end off of it. I mean the whole damn front end. I backed it into the drive way the night before. She hops in it the next morning and T-Bones a van pulling out of her own drive way. The car was never right again. And the shop that did the repair on the Olds had done one for us before. First one was fine. Olds ****ed. Moved on to a diff. shop for her next wreck.

Fender benders and bumper covers are one thing. But when things are so bad that engines and transmissions have to come out as part of the repair. Or they get knocked out as was the issue with the Olds. The car is then trash.

IMHO the HCHII should have been a total. But the bill so far has come in just under $10k. So it wont total. I did win the battle for all OEM parts. I have pages of parts with confirmed Honda part numbers. With visual comformation of said parts. It was a hell of a pile of parts.

The saga goes on.

It's just not these guys. I've seen the over all craftsman level, skill sets, and work ethic go down hill in America for years. From the college boys to ditch digger labor. You don't even want me to get started on whats left of American work ethic.

You'll probably get a new CVT out of it if they put regular fluid in it.
They don't last long at all when the wrong fluid is put in. Even 1 qt can destroy them.

Ford, Nissan and Chrysler state as much in all their svc information.

Maybe they'll total it if it needs a CVT now that the body shop has effed it up.

Fred I asked to see the bottle's used for the CVT fluid. And a new filter was installed. I think the clutches need to be reset.

The car is going back in Friday morning so some of my concerns can be addressed. (*&%@^)(*&)(* will hit the fan Friday!

It's became very apparent. Since the wreck the HCHII is junk! The tranny has never been right and it threw a IMA dummy light today. Its been back to the body shop 3 times and back to a dealer 2 times. It's making it's third trip to the dealer in the morning.

It's looking like it will be replaced with another car very soon. The cars in the running are FIT, R-18 Civic or Mazda-6. Accord would not be in the driveway if it was free at this point.

Even with the deal we got on the HCHII. The wreck wiped out that so called value gain. and I'm to the point that the MZ6 is the top runner even if we take a money beating. It's become very clear the local Honda dealers service dept's haven't a clue concerning the HCHII, nor does the body shop. But in the body shops defense. They have contracted out all final check out and hybrid and tranny repairs to honda dealers. And Honda keeps blowing it big time.

I'm fortunate to have had access to an awesome body shop in PA. They did exceptional work the first time. My 89 Prelude still looks better than new thanks to their TLC. Other body shops that friends and family have gone to . . . Recently my sister went back to them and they did their usual outstanding work.

It really is hard to find true craftsmen like that anymore.

Good luck with the new car purchase. Any of those choices sound great.

FWIW.... Granted this was 6 months ago but the Mazda dealers were more than willing to deal... much more so than 7 local Honda dealers on MSRP and trade in. I got my fully loaded 6 iGT 6MT for not much more than a Civic EX. Helluva value for what I got. Haven't looked back since.

Yes, I think you absolutely are. You are terribly self righteous, in addition to being verbally ABUSIVE and CONTROLLING towards someone you "love."
