Passenger Window motor not going up but goes down
I have a 2008 honda accord coupe 4 cyl.
I Recently had my car broken into and my stuff stolen... They shattered my passenger window and left a nice scratch under the window. I got a new glass from a small glass shop nearby. installed the glass to find out the window will only go DOWN but not UP. i tried taking the ground off the car battery and reconnecting it. in addition, the driver side master switch for the passenger window does not work. To see if it was the motor, i took two wires and jumped the motor with a 12volt drill battery. Well its not the motor. The motor goes up and down when i jump it with the battery. When i plug the normal wires back into the motor and try it again still doesnt go up. I heard someone say that the new cars have chips for almost everything in a car and that i might need to reset my window chip. I took it to a small body shop to see if they could figure it out. They said it was the switch that was the problem. but if it was the switch wouldnt the driver side passenger window switch be fine ? and plus the switch is operational when pulling the window down , its just the getting up is the problem. 2 hours of tinkering and they said it was the switch. Whats your guys opinion and does anyone have SOLUTIONS??? very much appreciated |

Reason for this is in most cars the motor is 2 wire, what makes it go up or down is simply reversal of polarity of both wires . If car came to me in the shop first I would check is voltages from switch to motor in both up an down positions.

I would check the programming then check the relay. Both switch's run through that the control unit and relay. I would expect the programing to be messed up after the window was replaced.
I found this thread with reset information and would try this first. I also have read some information about windows not going all the way up or all the way down. I think it was in the Honda tech news and the fix was the same to the following information. http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=27581 Quote:

I'd be willing to bet it has something to do w/ the anti-pinch safety feature that keeps the windows from squashing anything in the way when they close. If there is too much resistance (physical, not electrical) when the window is closing, this feature reverses the motor and rolls the window down. All it would take is for the new glass to be slightly out of its proper path, and rubbing too hard on the felts, track etc. to provide the added resistance to make this kick in. You may need to take your car in to a dealer and have them adjust the new glass. Hope this helps.
