Prospective Buyer - How to not get screwed on Rims?

Hi All,

Prospective buyer here for the '08-'10 Certified Used Accord Coupe V6.

Wants: The "Classic" look with tasteful rims (ie. not 22"s, not black rims). I need rims that will not alienate prospective buyers if/when I need to sell my car in the future (5-8 years out).

Rims: So after looking around online I saw the huge gap in prices between HFP wheels on the website ($2,741) versus other online stores ($1,315 No Tires).

So what's the big deal? :dunno: Something tells me, "Don't drink the kool-aide" and to do research before someone talks me into spending $2.7K on rims.

Are you getting screwed over by getting stock rims from Honda? Would I be better off shopping for rims and tires on my own? Or should I try to make deal with the dealership by asking them to match other prices?

Lastly, would HFP Rims add better re-sale value to the car rather than a random brand?

Any insight or experience would be appreciated :notworthy.

Aftermarket rims do not add re-sale value to the car. HFP wheels can be had for much cheaper than 2700. In fact, just the wheels can be had for around 1k. Happy hunting.

As long as you don't put 22" chrome (AKA ghetto) rims on, you'll be fine. Other alternative is to keep your stock wheels and put those on when you are ready to sell your car. I got my wheels/tires installed for around $1800 from a reputable shop (America's tires) locally. I'm very happy with my setup. I am also interested in the answer to this question. My understanding is that upgrading rims without adjusting the tires will cause the speedo to be off (Faster or slower). I think that the best bet is to go with something like the acura A-spec if you aren't looking for something that big.

When selling a car you can't go wrong with stock wheels. It's harder to sell a modded car because the buyer has to not only want the car, but also the mods.
